Definately. He and Ricardo Lopez need to fight it out to see who is the king of the 105 pounders. I've also heard of the extinct Paperweight weight division but it's hard to track because at different places and times it had variable weight limits. I would appreciate anybody who has more knowledge of that than I. I've also heard that at least one women boxing organization recognizes a Junior Strawweight division but I don't know anything about that. But a note about old timers. I rate fighters from the pre-1920s era a little different from those in the data pool. Some of my changes are window dressing. In other words do not really have any affect on the mechanics of the game. For instance, fighters whose fighting primes occur before 1920 do not have combination punching as an option (except for a 1 in the 2 pt. column in case the fighter accidently throws a combo in the heat of battle). Fighters whose careers start earlier than 1895 don't get the hook as an option as that was invented by Jim Corbett. These punches get redistributed to jab and cross. Also, the uppercut wasn't invented until about 1800. The bantamweight limit, before the flyweight division was created, was once as low as 105 and gradually increased over time. Terry McGovern and George Dixon held the title when it was about 115 (modern JBW) and I will be rating all of these early champs accordingly within a day or two.

Hi John,
May I make a request? How about if Shane Mosley didn't go directly from lightweight to welterweight? There was some talk of him making a stop at 140 (JWW) but it never happened due to the money of facing Oscar @ 147. Similar to your Roberto Duran previously posted in this thread. Thanks, John. |

Hi John, I love these Hypothetical ratings you have supplied and was just wondering if you could do a Junior Welterweight version for Henry Armstrong. Thanks bro.
