Hypothetical
The purpose of this thread is more for fun than anything else exploring "What if?" questions. First up is Sugar Ray Robinson. There were negotiations for him to challenge Floyd patterson for the Heavyeight crown but did not bear fruit. I have him rated based on what he was when he challenged Joey Maxim for the LHW title before his first retirement. Walcott and then Marciano were champions then. To reflect "historical accuracy" in Ray fighting Floyd use the Post Prime setting for Ray.

Hypothetical Cruiserweights
What if the Cruiserweight Division existed back to the early days of modern boxing. I have rated numerous prominent Heavyweight boxers who might havd competed in that weight class.

Hypothetical
It's a diversion from the more "serious" ratings I do but they're easy as I only have tweak ratings that already exist. I'll be converting a lot more HWs to CWs but am open to ideas.

Yeah, I like the title - hypothetical, the sim is almost based on that. We get to sim the "what if" fights.
It was a sad story with Valero & his personal life but it would have been interesting to see how high in weight (while still being effective) he could have gone. Too bad he had so many demons, flipped out & killed his poor wife. I'm sure some of the boxing history buffs have examples of fighters planning a move to another weight class but some event prevented that from happening. |

Duran
When Roberto Duran left the Lightweight division he immediately started campaigning as a Welterweight (where the money was). He skipped the JWW division but he might not have. Here he is as a hypothetical JWW.

Exactly - perfect!
Didn't Manny jump from 112 to 122? He's going for his 8th belt @ a different weight vs. Margarito in November. He could have picked up 2 more belts @ Jr. Bantam & Bantam & he'd be going for his 10th. |

I have a few "what if" if they fought in the CW division.
Eddie Chambers Chris Byrd (Only had one fight as a pro at that weight) Chris Arreola (Was a CW as an amateur) Bernard Hopkins Roy Jones |

Hypothetical does not mean impossible. Eddie Chambers and Chris Arreola's professional weight ranges prohibit them from competing as Cruiserweights but not so the three others requested.

Douglas
This next entry is actully less hypothetical than the previous ones. In 1974 Billy Douglas (the father of future HW champ Buster Douglas) fought for and won the vacant World Junior Light Heavyweight Title (167 pound limit). This belt was never defended but, arguably, Douglas could be said to have been the very first Super Middleweight Champ.

Fantastic idea.
Just been reading an article about Jimmy Wilde which suggests his best fighting weight was around 98 pounds! Is it possible you could do ratings at strawweight and light-fly for him please?
