Smile Increase player points per season?

Is there a way to make players get more points? Not like gretzky records or anything but some to 120 at least, I just like a high scoring league thank you!

The easiest way is by raising scoring in Commissioner Mode (League Menu-League Settings), that'll let you increase the number of goals per game and/or the average number of assists per goal.

We're also trying a few different things in the match engine to fix the issue with the leaders being a little too low even when overall scoring is at the right level.

It seems like this is only true for assists for me. Points leaders actually seem pretty good to me, while there are usually a bit too many 30+ goal scorers and 40+ scores. Since points seem to be good, it seems more like a problem that forwards score too much and don't get enough assists. Here are the top 5 leader boards in my current dynasty (did nothing abnormal in it):

2020-2021:

Goals (47,46,42,42,41)
Assists (58,53,51,49,48)
Points (86,85,85,82,79)

2019-2020:

Goals (54,46,46,46,45)
Assists (63,57,57,53,52)
Points (98,91,89,87,84)

2018-2019:

Goals (51,48,46,46,44)
Assists (60,53,53,53,48)
Points (92,85,79,79,78)

2017-2018:

Goals (51,50,46,44,42)
Assists (62,56,55,53,53)
Points (84,84,83,81,79)

2016-2017:

Goals (46,44,42,42,41)
Assists (59,50,49,49,48)
Points (87,75,74,73,73)

2015-2016:

Goals (57,49,42,40,39)
Assists (59,59,59,53,47)
Points (91,88,81,81,79)

2014-2015

Goals (61,52,52,49,46)
Assists (75,69,62,59,59)
Points (116,90,90,88,84)

2013-2014

Goals (50,49,48,45,42)
Assists (60,53,50,48,48)
Points (88,79,79,78,78)

2013-2014 (ACTUAL NHL)

Goals (51,43,41,39,37)
Assists (68,65,61,58,56)
Points (104,87,86,84,82)

Keep in mind that 104 point season is Sidney Crosby (as is my 116 point season in FHM). Some of my seasons had upwards of ten 40+ goal scorers, while only one of my season had 3 players with 60+ assists. Points seem pretty close although maybe a tad bit low. You might have a better sample size than me, but it really does seem like there is a problem with too many goals and too few assists. Note that lowering goals per game and raising assists per goal is an undesirable solution as it results defenseman racking up too many assists.

Your assessment is correct, as far as forwards getting too few assists. Defensemen generally get too many assists to make up the difference, so hopefully the new match engine will adjust this.

Also, the AI line creation currently is bad about using defensive defensemen on the PP too often, resulting in inflated assist totals for many who should not (the example I always use is Rob Scuderi, who, despite low offensive attributes, will always end up with 20-30 assists.

any idea on what I should set the goals per game and the assist per goal settings to? I tried 10.00 and 2.00 and ended up with like 50 70+ point players even michael granlund got 104 points!

Well yeah 10.00 is ridiculous - even in the 80's scoring only reached about 8 goals a game. I would suggest trying 6.5 goals a game (close to early 90's scoring levels) and leaving the assists per goals at its default.

Try leaving the goals setting, but bumping up the assists-per-goal close to 2. 2nd/3rd liners and defencemen will have too many assists, since it's primarily a distribution problem, but the leaders will be closer to reality.
