I saw someone with this card, is this a thing? Kind of baffled by it. He apparently was the 1st overall pick in the 1991 draft, but never made it to the majors, so what's with the card?

Is this like a promotional item or something like that, I've never seen it before?

Talking

Stop spying on my reserves!

I'm the only one that has the card and only by dumb luck, it came in a pack when Special Edition cards were launched, it was supposed to be the reward for the Future Legends but devs back pedal and went with Ken, however one of the cards made it to packs and I pulled it.... I reported the issue and I was able to keep the card but they locked it. Its the only one in the game and it's pretty terrible.

For those who are curious....

It wasn't just "apparently". I take it you don't recall that pick?

Man, there is a name for you. I had so many of his rookie cards in real life when I was a kid. Of course, with the card count production, everyone did as well!

It wasn't big news for 4 year old me, here in England. Didn't make kids tv news for some reason!

That's the coolest thing ever.

One of my OOTP fantasies is replaying the 1980s but manipulating the game so that some of the failed prospects have potential ratings equaling what was perceived at the time (so the game engine gives them a chance to pan out). Guys like Brad Komminsk or Shawn Abner.

With those individual ratings, it can't be a real 100 overall...can it?

I think the concept of a "former future legend" card is a cool idea, e.g., the White Sox could have a Future Legend Gordon Beckham 2008 or something like that.

Some could see it as kind of an ironic slap in the face to the players who didn't live up to their expectations, but I would see it as a celebration of their theoretical peak at the time they were being scouted.

Sorry, didn't realize you were such a young pup. My daughter is alot older than you.

Plus,as you allude to, I would imagine baseball draft news in England is minimal or certainly was in 1991.

Happy gaming though emilempenza!
