Special Edition Cards question

I posted this before but can't fine the original message.

I have gotten two cards by doing the missions.. one has not played yet but the other has played a few games and his playing like a superstar/ He just has a 70 rating and his stats are not that great in real ball.

Do SE players play better than non SE players?

A few games is a very small sample size. Nominal card rating of 70 doesn't say much... can you post a picture of the card's ratings? Could be an underrated gem. To your point though I 99% doubt "special edition" status makes a card perform any better than its ratings in the long run.

No, they're the same as regular cards, just depends on the ratings.

Why would someone give up some of these players to get this guy?

You aren't giving up the players, you keep them and you get the special card on top of that.

I understand that now, but what is so special about this player? One guy I got was Gagne and my other SS will play. This guy is just worth 5PP?

Am I missing something here?

I am also getting a lot of errors after I get a player from the auction, it says that it can't do something... but it seems like a false positive.. and one time I went to click on a player link and it would not work and I had to exit the game and reload it.

The guy is SO special, they literally put it on his card.

I don't know what else to tell you.

Not every special edition card is a gamebreaker. So yeah, probably not worth spending the few hundred K to grab the Vlad Jr Future Legend card *just* so that you can get that Bay card. But if you're partway there and only need a few other cards to round out the collection? Hey, it's a free card.

I was looking at the NY Yankee live that my friend is trying to build. I think there are 4 players rated 90 and above that are outfielders. So, if you win Rickey you will have to sell the extras and I am sure you will not get what you paid for them unless you sell them in an auction. But then again, I guess Judge would be a decent backup outfielder.

I am just trying to figure this out.

It's a baseball card game....you're missing the whole point of 'you have a choice"

yes i think this is the correct way to look at it.

at first i was bummed by the Tigers WS collection. But today I realized its a type of gift to tiger fans. If they already have those cards. otherwise no it does not make sense to go out and pay up for them to complete.

overall i was very happy with the new collections and think its a great new addition.

I would like to point out that you can buy those special editions on the market too if you are only interested in it and not any card from the mission itself. Collection missions are just side missions that you can choose to pursuit if you want to. They are not meant to be "must do or you die!", which seems like a fear of yours from reading the first post.

So do them if you feel like it or worth it, or don't do them if you think they are not worth it. I think you might be overthinking if you are still figuring it out.

Who is selling SE cards in auction house if they are pinned? Developers, hacks? Both? Or are they available in packs as well?

SE cards aren't locked. The cards you submit to get them are.

But don't the cards become locked?

You can still play the locked cards. You just can not sell them anymore.

Yea which is why he said you get to keep them. You have to. The reward can be sold though.
