That would be great. If we could get some stars to MLS within next 4 years, then have the World Cup, soccer MIGHT actually take off in the U.S.

The 94 Cup was moved from Brazil because they couldnt build the infrasrtucture. Deja vu all over again...
South Africa has massive health and social problems. It seems criminal to waste public money on a sporting event. |

It'd be nice for it to be in South Africa, but for entirely selfish reasons I hope it gets moved.

Well seeing that the United States had only a 6 month notice to put together the Women's World Cup in 2003, I'm sure organizers can put a good tournament going a few years advanced.

It'd be sweet to be in the US, since we have all these monster stadiums just hanging out and doing nothing and really wouldn't have to do anything at all to facilitate the WC. And I agree, I think SA should be more worried about oh, the highest infection rate for HIV of anywhere in the world and other such non-football matters. |

I definitely wouldn't complain about the World Cup being here in 2010, although I was suposta be honeymooning to it, which is kinda assanine now...not that I was excited about going to South Africa in their winter or in the first place...
moving on, I hope the Marlins get a new stadium (not city, ***holes) by then so games can be down here instead of Orlando...unless of course im in Orlando. away from my life... GO USA, if SA gets there act together we still have a chance in 2014 and 2018.

Maybe they could offer South Africa automatic qualification even if it is held in the USA, seeing as they were awarded it originally.

The Guardian is allegedly a respectable source of journalism, but I'm not sure why. I would completely disregard the article as utter bullshoy.

1) Euro TV will insist that the matches be in their prime time....as in 94 2) That would mean the matches would have to be played in the afternoon in Florida and its just too hot and humid..(see Germany v South Korea played at about noon in the Dallas summer heat.) |

FIFA = Laughing Stock, couldn't organise a drunken party in a brewery. They go on about cracking the big markets instead of actually seeing if countries can actually run tournaments or are even bothered about running them and not just in it for the money.
Not being biased or anything and not ragging on the MLS but kind of stinks that a country is talked about running a World Cup only what will be 16 years ago in 2010, when a true footballing country like England hasn't ran it in what will be 44 years in 2010 pretty much sums up FIFA's ineptness in running things. And before anybody say's it was in Europe this time, FIFA had scrapped the rotation policy to fit in an African country so the rotation policy and not having it in Europe twice doesn't hold water. |

And there is no way the FA will bid for a World Cup when we've got an Olympic Games in 2012. And anyway, you've contradicted yourself. First you say that only countries that can actually run tournaments and are bothered about running them should host them, which the USA clearly fit into both categories, yet you're saying it shouldn't go there because of the length of time between their last tournament and now. It would be the same gap as Mexico (16 years). Quote:
Actually Blatter made the rotation policy to have an African country host a World Cup, and then he scrapped it once they got one. Last edited by Sdpm100; 07-14-2006 at 06:27 AM. |
