Wow this is great news. I've thought for years that this was a perfect potential marriage. FOF is a great game but everything it is weak at (GUI, game world immersion and marketing to name a few) are things that OOTPD are hugely strong at.

And although it would have been very cool to see OOTPD develop their own football game, having one that is already solid and developed over a number of years join the fray is going to help eliminate a lot of the growing pains that would normally be experienced.

Even just FOF as it exists now with an updated GUI, addition of Facegen and custom logos/uniforms would be enough to make it an easy buy for me, but I'm sure it will be much more than that!

This is fantastic news!!
I've been playing OOTP baseball for many many years, and I'm looking foreword to this new football game later this year. I hope their are 3D stadiums & player animations like OOTP 19.

This is a dream come true! For years I've always imagined what if the FOF and OOTP developed a football game using the outstanding sim engine of FOF!

Looking forward to this!

It's only an educated guess... but I would imagine with near certainty that there's no chance of something that big being included in the first version.

Maybe for OOTP FOF 12, but for sure not for FOF 1

I can't believe i just saw this now. This is wonderful news. FOF is already such a fantastic deep game with a god awful interface which scared many people away. This is incredible news ---all that I request is that you add Canadians to the game.

This is fantastic news. I've day dreamed about FOF and OOTP being under the same umbrella. I look forward to the development for years to come. I'm keeping my expectations in check for the first several versions (lesson from FHM). Like OOTP baseball, I'll be purchasing for the rest of my life. Thank you guys.

Best post I've read about the merger. You hit the nail right on the head.

I've been thinking about this all day, ever since this "surprise" was pulled on me. I still cannot get over it. What an ideal joint venture!

I remember playing FOF years ago (2006?) but I was ultimately turned off by the antiquated interface and limited gameplay. Is that the right word? Said differently, I kept wishing that FOF had a face like, and capabilities like, OOTPB.

And now it will. My gosh. My gosh.

I mentioned Jim as the perfect candidate when OOTP was searching for a developer. His engine is second to none. I've purchased every iteration of his game and other than the interface, the only thing missing to me was the ability to create a custom universe (i.e., CFL). The marriage with OOTP now makes this a possibility so this is a no-brainer purchase for me once it is out.

wasn't "front office" originally sierra's title?

could have sworn i owned a front office football made by sierra in the 90's. 3d-playable not just a sim game. draw your own plays, setup complicated strategy screen etc etc.

the year i had it, it didn't have an nflpa license, but i think it did eventually.

(hehe the plight of macs and their propreitary and greedy choices as a company. they really know how to milk.)

I believe that was Front Page Sports Football. Awesome game for its time!
