Has anybody started as a manager in single-A and worked up to the Show?

Has anybody started in manager mode in single A and was able to move up the ranks all the way to the majors?
I wanted to know what to expect before I embark on the adventure.

I found a thread that I started just a year ago. One guy said it was 9 seasons. Any other data points?

There is also this thread but the answer was theoretical. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ger-ranks.html

I haven't played this way in a few versions, but I never really found it entertaining. The AI would move players between levels with alarming frequency, and I remained in Single-A for five years when I simmed forward. So it was never really my cup of tea. I have no idea if it's any better now, but with OOTP16's announced Manager Mode, I would have to imagine it will be.

Yeah game wasn't really configured for that sort of stuff. Because in real life it's mostly about dues paying and managing young players and that's about it. In the game hard to model that and plus no one would promote you realistically. You'd have to promote yourself.

I did three seasons, moving up each year. My experience also was that it was no fun. Players would get promoted on Monday, sent back to me on Tuesday, sent back up Thursday, etc.

Basically what fyrestorm said, although I must be a genius because I was promoted every year, so I was in the majors in a fictional league in 4 years. I think that was OOTP 11.

I will add that it is a very good way to learn your organization; it was interesting to see guys in the majors that I had managed in rookie ball. For those wanting immersion in a fictional league, it's a great (if tiring) way to get that.

OOTP 13, when I should have been buying 14; instead, I started as an A level manager, played my way to AA, Didn't get a promotion in season 3, so I quit.

I'm partway through my first season managing a mexican team, and I know it'll take me forever but I hope to make it there at some point
