The Angels wasted little time to beat the Blue Jays quite handily and it was the duo of Dayan Viciedo and Freddie Freeman that provided the punch here and look who is back off the DL for the ALCS... Iván Vargas is ready to go... and they will need him as their pitching staff is still a weak spot after a ton of injuries.

And their opponent will be the Indians, who fought their way past the hard hitting Yankees in a nailbiter of a series that saw Blake Rutherford run away with the series MvP honors. Most of the Tribe's starters have had a hard series and they won some close games... and if the Yankees would've distributed those runs scored a bit more even... it would've been them... The Angels are the favorites for me.

The Washington Nationals:

The Nationals took a 97-65 season all the way to their first division crown since 2015 and since the Harper/Strasburg era... a team that really got alot out of the Mata deal. Lots has changed since then... except the man at the helm of the ship, 757-701 manager Matt Williams, who has been a stable force in their clubhouse now and kept the team at .500 even in the bad years.

The pitching staff has really turned things around, and former D'back SP Miguel Almonte(29, 4.5*, 18-5 3.50 226K 35GS) has really turned this staff around, not only by winning 18 games... but by bringing a winning attitude to the rotation. Lefty Michael Archibald(27, 2*, 12-8 3.44 202K 34GS) has done well... but is more or less a 5 inning guy with a wipeout changeup. #3 is Lance McCullers Jr.(29, 2.5*, 12-8 4.34 183K 33GS), who came over from Houston and was … decent.

Their pen is the 2nd best in the NL, 3.31ERA, and was enriched by starter SP Juan Bermudez(28, 2/2.5*, 16-6 3.05 162K 28G/27GS)... who I would've put into the rotation personally... Awkwardly, their closer in Ryan Dull(33, 3.5*, 3-8 33SV 3-36 90K 78.2IP) came over midseason from Seattle... and went lockdown, 2-3 21SV 2.40 57K 48.2IP in WSH.

The biggest news however came just hours before the game... 3B Mathew Annunziata(26, 5*, .312-34-97 .966OPS) was activated from the DL and will bat #3 for them, with SS Cesar Alvarez(23, 4*, .300-25-88 .859OPS 157G) batting second now. Batting leadoff is 3B [B]Wilson 'Dynamite' Román[/B)](21, 1.5/3*, .127-0-5 .313OPS 5/9SB), a kid who has only appeared in 34 games and was on the bench for most of the year.

Batting cleanup most of the time... is RF Marcell Ozuna(31, 2.5*, .264-16-67 .725OPS 115G) with a man having a career season behind him... OF/1B Kelly Dugan(32, 3.5*, .315-26-97 .884OPS 141G). The rest of their lineup consists of steady .250 hitters... and things are completely mixed when against LHP of course...

In the end, we have to get out pitching in order. 4ER, 3ER, 5ER, 4ER... that are our starters in the NLDS... and that could go horribly wrong in this NLCS against a team with a clear superstar and better pitching and a better bullpen... we need to get out act together here.

2022 NLCS Game 1

National League Championship Series Game 1:
15th October 2022
Washington Nationals - Arizona Diamondbacks @Chase Field

WSH: SP Miguel Almonte(R, 1-1 3.46)
ARI: SP Brady Aiken(L, 0-0 6.35)

Miguel was 0-1 8.44ERA in two starts against us, AND not fully rested(97%)... so there may be a shot for us to break this baby open early this time. Of couse, we trailed 1-0 before we got our first cuts on Almonte as Brady conceded a couple of hits and let our former prospect Cesar Alvarez score in the 1st. We got nothing in the 1st and stranded a single in the second... and for some random reason, Aiken suddently went berserk and struck out seven guys in three innings of play.

The theme continued... as we got our second hit by the same guy, Jose Herrera and had two walks two times through the order... while Aiken broke the sound barrier in the top of the 6th with his pitches... and struck out NUMBER 14!!!! to end that inning. For Almonte, all was fun and games... until he passed 100 pitches in the bottom of the 5th... was left in... and was taken deep to start the 6th by Derek Fisher... and the game was suddently knotted at one.

In came Hector Rondon who got two outs, two walks and Ryan Johnson at the plate in a matter of minutes. Two strikes later, it was foul ball time... but instead of putting him away, Johnson singled up the middle and the roaring crowd saw Herrera cross the plate for a 2-1 Arizona lead.

With a 3-2 count, Daz slashed one to the exact same spot... 3-1 ARI... and stole second in a blink of an eye. Then, the speed of Strumpfy came into play as he chopped a hotshot grounder towards Richie Martin... and legged that baby out to continue some 2-out terror and plated Johnson. That was finally it for Rondon and they brought in Juan Bermudez... who walked the bags full and saw Derek Fisher put wood on a 100mph heater... that shot towards Annunziata at third... OVER Annunziata at third... and ROLLED ALL THE WAY TO THE WALL... 3-RUN DOUBLE! ARI 7 WSH 1!

Gallo homered to right to make it 8-1, Aiken plated a run with a wild pitch in the 8th... and then finished the inning... WITH a strikeout... # FRIKKING 18!!! Jesús Medina came in to pitch a meaningless 9th with Brady at 118 pitches... conceded a 2-run homer to Ozuna... and still closed the books on this game... that saw our starter make history.

Ok, I blew his pitch limit and he won't be able to start on three days rest for sure... but this was worth it... And we broke through in the 6th against their pen by putting pressure on their relievers with our speed... and getting clutch hits... VERY good game.

18-K Game for Diamondbacks Aiken
stadiumreport.bbn
October 15th, 2022

Brady Aiken of the Arizona Diamondbacks struck out an amazing 18 batters today at Chase Field and whipped the Washington Nationals 8-4 in game one of the NLCS. Aiken allowed 5 hits and gave up no walks in a sensational mound performance. "I really felt like I had complete command of all my pitches during the game," said a smiling Aiken when asked about his stellar outing. "These types of games don't happen all the time and especially not in a playoff enviroment, so I'm going to savor this one for a while."

Over the season Aiken has thrown 223 innings and dished out 292 strikeouts with a 22-6 mark and a 2.95 ERA. He is looking for his third straight NL Pitcher of the Year Award as he is leading the NL in pitchers WAR(5.9) for the third straight year.

2022 NLCS Game 2

National League Championship Series Game 2:
16th October 2022
Washington Nationals - Arizona Diamondbacks @Chase Field

WSH: SP Michael Archibald(L, 1-0 3.60)
ARI: SP Jose Mujica(R, 1-0 3.86)

After yesterday's game, things can only get worse for us... and we got our first scoring chance in the 1st... and got Strumphy hammered out at home right right away... Archibald had problems finding the zone in the early going and after falling behind 3-0 to Jose Herrera... Jose took three big swings... and the last one landed in the left field bleachers for a home run. Gallo and Johnson took walks... but Daz and Strumphy made outs... 1-0 ARI after two.

Mujica was fine by then... and casually allowed two singles and a walk to load the bases with nobody out and the meat part of the order coming up... and then, he took a page out of yesterday's playbook. Annunziata missed a changeup for a K, Ozuna struck out looking at a heater down in the zone and Dugan was late on 100mph... 3K to end the frame.

Archibald continued to have traffic on the bases... and was done after four innings and 100 pitches... Hello again Mr. Rondon... who pitched two scoreless. The game was also over for Mujica at 100 pitches and six innings... O'Halloran kept things scoreless for us in the 7th... but we got a shot in the 8th when Jesús Acevedo, a 2.24ERA right hander was on the bump for his second inning.

Fisher dumped a humpback liner into left, Herrera hit a LOUD double off the wall in left and Gallo got four wide ones to load the bags. Richie Shaffer hit a high hard one to left... and collected a sac fly... a single to left made it 3-0... and that was more than enough cushion for Wardy to get his third save of the postseason.

Our two aces got the message I delievered to them after the NLCS and we have a commanding lead and the upper hand going to the east coast for games 3-4-5... By the way, Joey Gallo is hitting .474-3-4 in the postseason so far while Annunziata is 1-8 this series... good that I didn't pull the trigger...

2022 NLCS Game 3

National League Championship Series Game 3:
18th October 2022
Arizona Diamondbacks - Washington Nationals @Nationals Park

ARI: SP David Mata(R, 0-0 7.94)
WSH: SP Lance McCullers Jr.(R, 1-0 0.00)

Mata was lit up by the Phillies in the NLDS, but he was 2-0 1.23 in the regular season against his former team... yet... all eyes were on him returning to Nationals Park. Speed was the key in the 1st inning of play as Lindor ran out a groundball back to the mound for a infield single.. but was stranded there. On the other hand, Wilson Román legged out a double with a head first slide, advanced to first on a grounder... and scored on a wild pitch that didn't get away TOO far... but that speed... 1-0 WSH.

Trout however had read the same book and doubled over Austin Schotts to start the second and eventually scored when Gallo grounded him in with one out. Román reached once again the third under some loud clapping of the fans.... stole second... and watched Mata strike out the side anyways, looking unfazed this time.

McCullers Jr. finally started to show his control issues in the 4th, but Trout decided to challenge the arm of Tim Susnara... and was caught stealing instead of waiting things out... and we left two on that inning. Another double, this time a leadoff one by Annunziata, was left on the spot by a dealing Mata that time...

And once again, Susnara erased a leadoff baserunner that tried to steal, and I was close to going down there telling Shawnie to stop the crap... Susnara has a 18-rated arm and was on fire today. Strumpfy still reached with two outs... and didn't try to steal... and instead, Lindor got one past the infielders into right... and Chase was running... towards third on the arm of Ozuna... inaccurate throw... PAST ANNUNZIATA... STRUMPF is going home... ARI 2 WSH 1!

McCullers was visibly upset as he hoped to get out of the inning unscored.. and instead, he had to face Derek Fisher. He missed the zone three times, got over with a fastball, 3-1... and then Derek turned on a inside heater... flyball to right... WAY BACK... WAY BACK... GOOONE! Given a three run lead... Mata went on to retire nine straight and was on the bench in the bottom 7th... watching us trying to bite another chunck out of their pen.

Johnson, Daz and Francisco quickly loaded the bags with one out in the second inning of relief of Adam Liberatore and the big guns coming up. Fisher took a mighty hack at a slider... that went high into the air... and into the glove of the shortstop for a popout... and Trout had a good AB, but lined out to Annunziata.

By the time Mikey Edie walked in the 8th, David Mata had mowed down 14 in a row... and got a first pitch groundout to finish off eight innings of 4-hit 1ER 1BB 9K ball in a GREAT start for us... and gave the ball to our cold blooded executioner for the 9th... 1-2-3 and ballgame.

SP David Mata 8IP 4H 1R 1ER 1BB 9K PotG
SS Lindor 3-4 R
DH Fisher 1-4 R 2RBI HR(3)

Well, for them, Tim Susnara is a major force behind the plate, a 20 rated defensive catcher that can work with any pitcher effectively. For us, he is a problem as he is VERY good in nailing our runners... It didn't matter today as we generated enough offense without the stolen base and are ahead 3-0... but we should be more cautious here.

2022 NLCS Game 4

National League Championship Series Game 4:
19th October 2022
Arizona Diamondbacks - Washington Nationals @Nationals Park

ARI: SP Stetson Woods(R, 0-0 6.00)
WSH: SP Miguel Almonte(R, 1-3 3.00)

Brady was definitly not ready to start on three days rest(shocker, I know), so it was Stetson out there against Miguel... and apart from a couple of Arizona singles and a double by Richie Martin that was stranded at third... the first three innings were eventless for both hurlers.

By the end of the 4th, Miguel Almonte had struck out seven batters already... but then threw one strike too much to Richie Shaffer... and payed for it with a leadoff homer in the 5th. Normally, this one mistake wouldn't be as bad... but when the opposing pitcher in Stetson Woods is pitching six innings of 2-hit ball... it's pretty unlucky.

All that went out of the window when it started to rain in the 7th after a Gallo walk... and baseball was shut down for little more than an hour... and it was Jesús Acevedo out there. Getting a different look worked out fine for our hitters... and bad for Acevedo as Daz and Chase unleashed some 2-out terror, singeling both to plate Johnson, who forced Gallo with one out.

That got us reaching into our pen... which worked just fine as Albright, O'Halloran and Dunbar locked them down on one hit for two scoreless... and that got Wardy into the game... and he nailed the speedy Mikey Edie with the first pitch. With Román at the plate... he swiped second... on a 96mph heater that also resulted in a K... and now Alvarez and Annunziata were up.

And Alvarez quickly was ahead 3-0... looked at a bender for a strike...and then hit a rocket towards right field... Daz running... DAZ JUMPING... CAUGHT! Edie had to return to second and couldn't advance... and we were one out away... with Annunziata up, who didn't get on track all series long... and tapped one to Wardy for an easy 1-3.

And we return to the World Series!

Not that we actually set the world on fire with the bats... but our pitching has REALLY bounced back to put zeroes on the board and the Nats stood nearly no chance here.

The Los Angeles Angels:

Coming in with 102 regular season wins, the Angels have a formidable team at their hands offensively and have just put away the Indians with three straight wins on the road. Managed by long time bench coach(under Mike Scioscia), he inherited the position of the manager after the 2019 season and turned things around with alot of young talent, winning 84, 87, and 102 games since then.

He will have to sqeeze every ooze of performance out of his pitching staff as José De Jesús, Carlos Rodon and Cole Hamels are all out for the series. That means, they will have to rely on SP Foster Griffin(27, 2.5/3*, 12-4 2.97 141K 22GS) to stay hot, and on SP Lewis Thorpe(26, 2.5*, 14-9 3.77 199K 30GS), SP Jake Prosinski(31, 1*, 10-8 4.18 147K 30GS) and if needed SP Rob Zastryzny(30, 0.5*, 4-3 3.26 54K 13GS) to at least stay respectable... but none of them is even close to the four aces we are running out these days.... and their bullpen is... respectable at best.

Offense is the area where they could shine, and things start there with veteran 1B/DH Freddie Freeman(33, 4*, .297-29-83 .871OPS 162G) and former Rule 5 Draftee 2B Rafael Devers(25, 4/4.5*, .293-20-68 .816OPS 152G)... a guy Boston should have never let go...

The big punch comes after that... 3B Xander Bogaerts(30, 4.5*, .306-37-120 .901OPS) and CF Iván Vargas(23, 5*, .298-34-97 .952OPS 124G 31/45SB) are two of the best hitters in baseball and if Vargas would have been healthy all year long... it would've been a MONSTER year.

After that, it's three clever veterans batting, LF Dayan Viciedo(33, 3*, .259-18-67 .680OPS 132G), C Buster Posey(35, 4.5*. .265-3-22 .711OPS 72G) and SS Corey Seager(28, 3*, .288-14-61 .807OPS 125G) with the later two really helping out their defense this year.

Overall... if we hit their pitching, there is no way these guys should outscore us... or is there? I'm pretty afraid of their 1-4 lineup... these guys combined for 120HR and weren't all healthy...

2022 World Series Game 1

World Series Game 1:
23rd October 2022
Los Angeles Angels - Arizona Diamondbacks @Chase Field

LAA: SP Lewis Thorpe(L, 2-1 4.26)
ARI: SP Brady Aiken(L, 1-0 3.95)

Here we are, the series we have worked for all year long... and facing a... interesting lineup as Buster Posey and Dayan Viciedo were batting leadoff and #2, basically swapping positions with Freeman and Devers. They amounted for basically nothing in the 1st and Aiken got Vargas out on a comebacker after Bogaerts walked. Thorpe already doubled that walk total after four batters... and had two outs by then with Jose Herrera at the plate...

And that didn't went well as Jose went fishing down in the zone and hit a sharp liner to right center to give the good guys a 1-0 lead. Brady took that as a queue to dial things up and fanned the side on 14 pitches in the 2nd and both hurlers got into a groove... so offense died down... well apart from the usual Aiken induced flyballs that juust die at the track in center...

We then stranded a leadoff Trout double in the 4th by going down on strikes... but it didn't matter much... as there were three BIG zeroes on the board for the Angels... runs 0, hits 0, errors 0 after five... after six... and that was when Fisher jumped on Thorpe for another leadoff double. They elected to IBB Trout... and were kinda surprised when Herrera bunted them over.

Nobody was surprised when Gallo K'ed on four pitches to get to two outs... but Riche Shaffer surprised Thorpe and the Angels by jumping on the first pitch... lined hard to right... Viciedo running... leaping to his right... PAST HIS GLOVE... two runs score and Shaffer is safe at second with a 2-run double! He scored when a sharp grounder rolled shyly into right off the bat of Johnson... and with a 4-0 lead... Aiken needed nine outs to get a World Series no-hitter in game one.

Grounder back to the pitcher... out... K... great... high flyball to left... trouble... big trouble... JOHNSON HAS GOT IT! The 7th is over! The 8th... saw Freeman K for #10... and he got Devers down 0-2... inside fastball... CLIPPED HIM... before the broadcasters could finish their thoughts about Aiken maybe tiring... when Sandoval flew out softly to right... and when they said it out loud... Corey Seager was fanned!

Shaffer added some free agent value with another solo tater to left... and we went to the 9th with a intact no-hitter... here is the live broadcast:

Greg Allen steps in, hitting .313 for the playoffs while playing in right... Takes ball one inside... Allen, a kid from San Diego, California, is 0-3 with a K... the 1-0 pitch... pulled on the ground... Lindor gobbles is up... ONE DOWN!

Next up the leadoff hitter and veteran catcher... Buster Posey... Aiken into the windup... WOW that was CLOSE... that nearly hit Posey... a changeup that got away here and Posey went back and to the ground. Herrera is coming out for a little chat... and here we go again... swung on... fly ball to left... Ryan it tracking it... TWO DOWN!!!

Brady Aiken is one out away from pitching the second no-hitter in World Series history! Here is Dayan Viciedo... batting .316-0-8 this postseason. The pitch... is low for a ball... Viciedo, from Cuba, has played for a ton of teams and always has been a veteran presence that could be counted upon for 15-25 home runs... and that baby is a trickler foul, 1-1 the count.

If he breaks up the no-hitter here, he better leaves the field and Phoenix in a hurry if he wants to live...1-1 pitch... PAINTED THE OUTSIDE CORNER FOR A STRIKE... AND THE CROWD IS ON THEIR FEET AGAIN! Aiken is on the rubber again and here is the pitch... outside for a ball. Brady surely is trying to waste a pitch here to get Viciedo, who struck out 127 times in 528AB's, fishing for a ball here...

Los Angeles Goes Hitless Against Aiken
stadiumreport.bbn
October 23th, 2022

The Arizona Diamondbacks and their fans had a lot to celebrate today as 26-year-old hurler Brady Aiken no-hit the Los Angeles Angels 5-0 at Chase Field to win game one of the 2022 World Series.

"He mixed his pitches well, hit his spots...and got some help from above," said his pitching coach Bobby Abreu. "Brady really took it to another level today." On his record-setting day Aiken had 12 strikeouts and 1 walk.

His manager Shawn Holt added, "I don't remember a better pitched game. And how about our defense, too. We played some good 'D' today." This is the second World Series no-hitter in history, and the third postseason no-hitter as Phillies ace Roy Halladay pitched one in the 2010 NLCS, and Yankees starter Don Larsen pitched a perfect game in the 1956 World Series.

In 33 starts this year Aiken has recorded a 22-6 record and a 2.95 ERA, striking out 292 while leading the league in WHIP(0.93) and WAR(5.9).

2022 World Series Game 2

World Series Game 2:
24th October 2022
Los Angeles Angels - Arizona Diamondbacks @Chase Field

LAA: SP Jon Prosinski(R, 2-0 0.64)
ARI: SP Jose Mujica(R, 2-0 2.08)

After yesterday's circus act, everybody woke up today... and still there was a big game out there to be played... and Mujica was the guy on the mound for us... and he found trouble right from the get-go. Freeman took four wide ones, was bunted over... and then ultimately scored on a 2-run dinger that Iván Vargas put into the seats deep into right.

Prosinski was throwing strikes and was fooling our guys pretty good for a while... and of course... Mujica settled in nicely after that 2-run mistake in the 1st. We stranded a runner in the 2nd and saw Daz run into an out(damn Buster Posey), but Francisco Lindor led off the 4th with a tricky grounder to second that arrived late at first base.

After that, Fisher hit one into the gap in right center and ended up with a DAMN close double sliding into second that Lindor didn't score on... and Trout was caught looking … two on, one down. And then, Jose Herrera went on to swing on the first pitch and hit it 430ft long over the wall right of the scoreboard to shoot the D'backs infront 3-2.

A Freeman single in the 5th had no effect as it came with two outs... and Prosinski didn't even survive his part of the 5th as he was hooked after a 1-out Strumpf single. Vinnie Pestano came in and quickly was beaten by Lindor for a single... and Derek Fisher hit one deep enough to get the sac fly, ARI 4 LAA 2.

While that was a pretty solid 2-run lead, Mujica was done protecting it after K #10 and #11 and pitch #99 after six today... and O'Halloran and Albright exploited some matchups to get a scoreless 7th to go... with a couple of singles allowed.

While Jimmy Dunbar was warming up, the Angels brought in our former employee Ben Rowen to keep things close... he got to two outs... conceded a grounder up the middle to Fisher... and then Trout took him deep for two to make it 6-2... and while Balderas tried to blow that lead... he couldn't.

Bad day for Prosinski and their bullpen... it doesn't seem like their pitching is able to keep us from scoring here... and if our pitching stays hot... this is a quick affair.

2022 World Series Game 3

World Series Game 3:
27th October 2022
Arizona Diamondbacks - Los Angeles Angels @Angels Stadium of Anaheim

LAA: SP Foster Griffin(L, 2-1 2.00)
ARI: SP David Mata(R, 1-0 3.95)

Foster Griffin will start game three, and he has been a surprise for the Halos as he bursted onto the szene with 12 wins in 22 starts and a 2.97 after spending the start of the year on AAA. He was a swingman for the Nationals earlier in his career... and has a tall task at hand here. He got us 1-2-3... and in a pretty stunning dejŕ-vu moment, Mata led Freeman reach... and then saw Iván Vargas put a 2-piece on the board right away in the 1st inning.

Things got worse in the 2nd when a walk and three singles loaded the bases with nobody out... and only a perfectly timed double play started by Strumpfy and a K of Freddie Freeman made him survive with only one earned run... before Vargas collected RBI's #4 and #5 with a 2-run double and the Angels jumped in front 7-0... and that ended Mata's day for good.

Fully collected two more earned in the 4th.... and the game became a spanking like we haven't seen in years as Perez conceded a GRAND SLAM to Mr. Posey in the 6th... and a 2-run Herrera single in the 7th didn't matter one bit...

That game was ultimately embarrasing...

2022 World Series Game 4

World Series Game 4:
28th October 2022
Arizona Diamondbacks - Los Angeles Angels @Angels Stadium of Anaheim

LAA: SP Rob Zastryzny(L, 1-0 2.79)
ARI: SP Stetson Woods(R, 1-0 3.00)

After the Angels got all the runs they didn't score in game one and two in game three, we hopefully can stop the bleeding today with Woods on the mound... hopefully. Before we got a chance to find that out, Zastryzny had already conceded a double, a infield single, a run scoring wild pitch and a RBI-single to Derek Fisher... and it was us who jumped out to a early 2-0 lead. And then Freeman reached on a single, Woods got two outs... and Iván Vargas was out there again... hit a flyball... to left... to Johnson, three down.

That was when both pitchers got into the groove... which was the case in game one and two aswell... and then Trout took a leadoff walk in the 4th and a greedy Herrera swung at a changeup... that went over Pablo Sandoval into right for a RBI-double... before Rob Z. got two more K's to get to six... and got a grounder to end the frame... trailing 3-0.

An infield hit legged out by Vargas(who else) with two outs in the 4th was just their fourth... and was stranded there. By the 5th, Zastryzny was out, Vinnie Pestano was in, Strumpf was walked... swiped second... Lindor was walked... and Vinnie was in big time trouble.

Pestano was thinking double steal... but we were not, and he fell behind 2-0 to Fisher...and then threw a heater that clipped the outside part of the zone... except that it made loud contact with a piece of lumber, flew to center... OVER THE GLOVE OF VARGAS... Fisher chuggs into second with a 2-run double and Woods could pitch with a BIG lead now...

Not only did that lead grow by two... Stetson was suddently nursing a 2-hitter with four K's and 62 pitches through six innings of play... and he brought it home in a 8-0 win, walking one and striking out 10!

That was more like it. Woods has found SOMETHING late this year and has not lost it again since... and we had some luck on the basepaths today, swiping two bags on Posey... and are one game away from the third World Series in this tenure as a GM....

2022 World Series Game 5

World Series Game 5:
29th October 2022
Arizona Diamondbacks - Los Angeles Angels @Angels Stadium of Anaheim

LAA: SP Lewis Thorpe(L, 2-2 4,68)
ARI: SP Jose Mujica(R, 3-0 2.37)

And suddently, we were in a bit of a jam. Brady and Jose M. came into my office early today... and Brady proposed that Mujica would start today on three days rest... as he wasn't feeling quite well... and would love to get another day rest, saying that both thought this would give us the best chance to win today or tomorrow... and we went with it... too many pitches for that no-hitter...

We faced Thorpe on four days rest... and he and Jose went into a groove to only allow a run apiece through three innings... and it was the fans former hero and now booed Mike Trout who untied the affair with a deep blast to right field that landed in our bullpen. After that... not alot was happening... Strumpf was plunked in the 6th and Lindor singled before a DP ended the frame... and in the bottom half Jose walked one... and then perfectly fielded a bunt... double play... inning over.

Things got out of hand(literally) for Mujica as first a groundball by Bogaerts slipped under his glove for a infield single... and then a changeup slipped out of his hand to nail Vargas for two on and nobody out bottom 7th. Viciedo hacked at the first pitch... and got under it for a popout... Posey looked at a fastball down in the zone... for strike three... and Seager tapped a excuse me swing back to Mujica... ARI 1 LAA0 after seven.

Thorpe was still in there... stayed in there... and went all nine innings, allowing exactly one run on four hits as our offense was baffled by him after that one homer in the 4th... which got Wardy into the game... trying to close out his second elimination game in the World Series in two years... and Devers, Bogaerts and Vargas up...

And then, Devers walked on four straight balls... and the first pitch to Bogaerts was also down and in... The next one... painted the outside corner for a strike... and the 1-1 pitch was a biit more outside... swung on... GROUNdBALL TO LINDOR AT SHORT... TO STRUMPF... TO SHAFFER... DOUBLE PLAY!!! 6-4-3!

Now... Iván Vargas, the likely AL MvP... against Wardy.... First pitch... painted the outside corner again, 0-1... Vargas is hitting .286 with three homers and 8 RBI's this postseason... Wardy throws... breaking ball... foul... 0-2....

Now, Duane Ward Jr. in the driver seat... here is the sign... into the windup... THIS ONE IS POPPED UP TOWARDS FIRST... SHAFFER DRIFTING INTO FOUL TERRITORY...

HE HAS GOT IT!

Arizona Wins 2022 World Series
stadiumreport.bbn
October 29th, 2022

For the Arizona Diamondbacks, it was all about winning, and win they did.

There was nothing fancy in how they went about it either, the team just prepared mentally and physically and then went out and played baseball the right way.

"We did the little things right, we did the big things right," said starting pitcher Jose Mujica. "Now we're the league champions."

Arizona defeated the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 1-0 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim to take the series 4-1.

"Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you make your own luck," said the Arizona manager. "We got lucky a few times, but mostly we did the right things by being prepared for each game and playing the game the way it's meant to be played."
