I turned on this option and took a look around and, maybe it's just my eyes or system, but can't say I saw a difference in appearance.
At first I thought it was quite a bit slower as the "thinking wheel" would spin for a moment before bringing up a player card. Same switching back and forth between my team screen to a ML affiliate. Maybe a half second compared to a quarter of a second? Not sure how much of this is placebo or real? In any case I turned it back off because it was "in my head" any time I saw the wheel spin that I was wasting time but, it could very well just be in my head Haven't tried it playing out a game. System is dell xps i7, 24 gig ram (I know ootp (need 64 bit version ootp for windows) can't use that all but it's still there for other stuff), 27" 2k monitor running ootp at 2560*1440, nvidia 1050 newest driver, win 10 64 bit updated. So, just curious what others are seeing? Maybe Matt or someone could comment on what specific areas we might notice a difference? Thanks. |

With the better graphics options, this is what I am getting.
Enabled on the left, Disabled on the right. You can tell that the small logos are distorted or jagged on the left side with the Optimized Graphics on. Is this how the Optimized Graphics are supposed to look? I am running at 2160, for I have a 4k monitor and a GTX 1070 graphics card.

I noticed the same. It actually looks worse with it enabled. I have a GTX980 and running 1920x1080.

I am never a fan of changes like this so late in a game version cycle. From what I have read in several threads, it looks like this feature is what started the mess in .64 and continues to linger even in .70 in the form of screen refresh responsiveness. Which would bother me.
Better to introduce such a feature with a new version, in beta, when many more people are involved in testing, I would surmise. Then the question should be not just "does it work?" but "is it worth it?" From rjl518 shows above, I would say no even if it degrades program performance only slightly. The game looked fine to me before. Is it wise to tinker with its performance four or five months after releasing the latest version? Looks like I'm done for this year with 19.7.59. Which does not make me unhappy.

I must admit I am scratching my head over this feature. Why was it introduced? What is the benefit?

I have a high end gaming system, more than capable of running OOTP with all the bells and whistles. With this enabled, I started getting a lot of hang time with OOTP - (The OOTP not responding message). I would just wait and eventually the game would complete what it was doing in the background and I could continue.
It became quite frequent though, so I disabled the option and things are much smoother again. Maybe it had to do with this, maybe with the overall problem that a lot of people were experiencing, I can't say. I will say that this option is staying off for now. I would still like to hear from Markus or Matt what exactly this feature is supposed to do and does it need some tweaking. Who knows, maybe it had something to do with the original lag problem. Didn't Matt say this feature would be used to draw chickens and cows for the upcoming Perfect Game? Users could accumulate cows and chickens and trade them for vegetables, sports equipment such as bats and gloves, or simply cook them for a team feast eliminating all player fatigue for a month or more.

Doesn't work for me either. Tried it and it was like living through the patch when it was introduced. The latest patch fixed everything for me, but the expert is pretty bad.

We added this feature to improve the quality of the GUI graphics, but it's still not optimal - firstly it's too slow and secondly the anti-aliasing is not working well, that's why it's off by default and hidden in the expert tab.
When it's disabled, it has no effect at all. It has nothing to do with the current lag problem. The original resize code has not changed at all. |
