The Montreal Canadiens open up the regular season at home with a home and home series with the Devils. Montreal will start G Bill Wolfenbarger. A milestone for tonight is that Montreal C Jeff Pilbeam is 1 point away from 200 in his career.


The first period ends scoreless with Montreal leading the shot clock 10-4. Montreal was 0-1 on the PP, the Devils did not get a PP opportunity.


The New Jersey Devils break the ice shortly after Montreal LW Emile Boudreau's penalty expired, RD David Vala wrists one past G Wolfenbarger for the 1-0 lead at 12:27 of the 2nd. The period ends with the shots still favouring Montreal 18-13 but the score is 1-0 for New Jersey.


The Devils have to kill 2 PP's in the 3rd period but Montreal could not break the goose egg. The final shots are 27-18 for Montreal but the Devils win 1-0.

The Habs now travel to face the Devils (1-0-0) at the Prudential Center. Montreal will start G Martin King on the second night of back to backs. The Devils will change goalies tonight as well going with Vitaliy Tkachov. C Jeff Pilbeam is still 1 point short of 200 while Devils Cade Powell is 4 points short of 250.


Another tight period with the Devils and Habs, the shots were 8-7 for Montreal and the Devils had the only PP. The score remains 0-0.


The New Jersey Devils take the 1-0 lead as LW Cade Powell's slapper beats G Martin King at 12:31 of the 2nd period. At 17:58, C Gedas Abbiati is sent in all alone on a break away and beats G King to make it 2-0. The shots after two periods is 16-13 for Montreal but the after 5 periods of hockey, the Habs are looking for their 1st goal of the season.


The Devils take a 3-0 lead as LW Cade Powell pounces on a rebound and gets his 2nd of the night at 4:17. Montreal has now gone 120 minutes without a goal and lose 3-0. The finals shots were 23-21 for the Devils.


New Jersey 3 Montreal 0


New Jersey RD Eric Moser was named the games first star with 2 assists. The 34 year old had 10 goals and 45 points with 32 PIMs and +7 rating in 72 games last year for the Devils. Moser played the 2000-01 season with the Blackhawks before signing as a free agent with the Devils for the 2001-02 season.


Detroit Red Wings LW Paul Brown had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over the Bruins. The 22 year old had 28 goals and 53 points with 41 PIMs and a +15 rating in 72 games with the Red Wings last year. Brown was the Wings 26th overall pick in the 2001 NHL Draft.

Williamson was nominated for the 2001 NHL Best Defensive Forward award, won a Stanley Cup in 2003 and was nominated again for the 2003 Best Defensive Forward award.


Colorado Avalanche RD Nicolas Petit had 2 goals in a 4-1 win over the Canucks. The 28 year old had 11 goals and 42 points with 68 PIMs and a +14 rating in 72 games last year with the Avs.


New York Rangers LW Francois Roy had 3 assists in a 5-0 win over the Sabres. The 30 year old now has 1 goal and 8 points with 2 PIMs and a +3 rating in 3 games this year. Roy was a Stanley Cup winner with the Rangers last year.


Philadelphia Flyers C Hakan Nilsson had 3 assists in a 4-1 win over the Senators. The 22 year old had 25 goals and 60 points with 46 PIMs and a -10 rating in 72 games last year for the Flyers. Nilsson was nominated for the CHL's 2001 Best Defensive Forward award, won a Stanley Cup in 2002. He won the NHL's 2002 Best Defensive Forward award and the NHL's 2003 Best Defensive Forward award.

The Canadiens need to find some offense as Montreal (0-2-0) goes to Boston to face the Bruins (1-2-0) at TD Gardens. Montreal C Jeff Pilbeam is still looking for his 200th point as he is 1 shy.


The Bruins get the lead on the PP as LD Jeff MacConachie grabs a rebound and beats G Bill Wolfenbarger for his 1st of the year at 8:31. Moments later, C Michael Bishop pounces on the Habs goalie rebound and gets his 1st of the year at 10:16 for a 2-0 lead. Another period without a goal as Montreal is down 2-0 after one and being outshot 9-7. Montreal will start the 2nd period shorthanded.


The Habs finally find the back of the net just seconds after the Habs kill a penalty. C Dean Casey gets his 1st of the season at 1:58 on a feed by Patrick Atkins and Montreal closes the gap to 2-1. Montreal does get some bad news as LW Emile Boudreau left the game with a leg injury about 7 minutes into the 2nd. Montreal ties it up when C Patrick Atkins gets his 1st of the season on a pass from RD Rinat Sadriyev at 16:01 and its a 2-2 game. The period ends with the shots 19-15 for Montreal.


Montreal gets its first lead of the season as C Patrick Atkins wins the draw in the Boston end and LW Eric Brewer blasts one in for his 1st of the year at 15:22 and a 3-2 Montreal lead. Montreal hangs on for the win and out shot the Bruins 30-19 in the game.

Montreal Canadiens C Patrick Atkins was the 1st star with a goal and 2 assists in the win. The 20 year old had 23 goals and 50 points with 22 PIMs and a +13 rating in 70 games last year for Montreal. Atkins was the 2004 NHL Rookie of the Year.


Montreal Canadiens LW Emile Boudreau is considered day to day with groin tightness. The 22 year old had 31 goals and 59 points with 46 PIMs and a +36 rating in 70 games last year for Montreal. Boudreau won the CHL's 2001 Best Defensive Forward award and was nominated for the CHL's 2001 MVP award.


Winnipeg Jets C Peter Horvath had 2 assists in a 2-1 win over the Flames. The 22 year old had 15 goals and 61 points with 48 PIMs and a +14 rating in 72 games for the Jets last year. Horvath was nominated for the NHL's 2002 Best Defensive Player award.


Montreal Canadiens G Martin King was injured while helping friend move into a new house. King suffered back stiffness and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks. King had 15 wins with a 1.37 GAA and a .937 Sv% in 22 games last year. The 15 wins was a career high.


Montreal Canadiens have announced they have promoted G Walt Ross from the AHL Bakersfield Condors. The 22 year old had 11 wins with a 2.15 GAA and .908 Sv% in 23 game in the AHL last year.

The Montreal Canadiens (1-2-0) are back home to the Bell Center to host the Philadelphia Flyers (2-1-1) Montreal will be without LW Emile Boudreau. Montreal C Jeff Pilbeam continues to look for 1 point to record his 200th of his career.


Montreal gets the opening goal as LW Randolph Lott is sent in on a breakaway by LD Dominick Heatherington and Lott bangs one in off the crossbar for his 1st of the year at 4:47 and a 1-0 lead. Montreal goes up 2-0 at 13:33 when RW Li Wei swats at a rebound of RD Rinat Sadriyev's shot and gets his 1st of the year. The first period end with the shots 8-8 and Montreal up 2-0.


The Flyers make it 2-1 as C Hakan Nilsson makes a fancy move to beat G Bill Wolfenbarger at 5:45 of the 2nd period for his 1st of the year. Montreal gets that one back and make it 3-1 as C Patrick Atkins tips in LD Dominick Heatherington's shot at 7:52 of the 2nd. The Flyers make it 3-2 when the puck banks off of C Kevin Froats for his 1st of the year at 16:41. The period ends with the shots 19-14 for Montreal and a 3-2 lead.


Montreal goes up 4-2 at 3:40 of the 3rd period a C Jeff Pilbeam knocks in his own rebound after being set up by LD Vincent Lavoie for his 1st of the year and his 200th point of his career. Montreal holds on for the win outshooting the Flyers 27-24.


Montreal 4 Philadelphia 2


Montreal LW Randolph Lott was the 1st star with a goal and an assist. The 32 year old had 7 goals and 25 points with 38 PIMs and a +17 rating in 72 games last year. Lott had a career high 48 points in the 2000-01 season with the Leafs.


Nashville Predators LW Jeremy Mercier had 2 goals in a 4-3 win over the Blues. The 20 year old had 12 goals and 56 points with 20 PIMs and a +28 rating in 72 games with the Predators last year. The Canadiens play on back to back nights and visit the Leafs in Toronto. Montreal (2-2-0) will start G Walt Ross who will make his NHL debute tonight against the Leafs (2-2-0)


Montreal gets the opening goal at 7:05 when C Jeff Pilbeam wins the draw, RW Li Wei retrives it and feeds Pilbeam for the snap shot for his 2nd of the season. Montreal goes up 2-0 as C Patrick Atkins knocks in his own rebound after the former Leaf LW Randolph Lott's shot. For Atkins it was his 3rd of the season at 18:04. Montreal dominated the 1st period out shooting the Leafs 18-2 making life easy for the rookie goalie.


Montreal makes it 3-0 as C Patrick Atkins wins the draw and RW Petr Klusacek beats the Leaf goalie. Its Klusacek's 1st of the season at 18:34 of the 2nd. The period ends with Montreal up 34-5 on the shot clock.


Montreal continues to push the play including while SH. C Patrick Atkins gets his 4th of the year SH with an assist to RD Steven Thornton at 4:03 of the 3rd. Its now 4-0. On the same Leaf PP, the Leafs break G Walt Ross's chance for a NHL debute S/O. C Nikita Volkhov scores on the PP at 5:37, his 1st of the year. After a big save by Montreal G Ross, the Canadiens comeback and put pressure on the Leaf net, finally at 7:54 of the 3rd RD Steven Thornton scores his 1st of the year and its now 5-1. The Leafs are not done yet, while on the PP RW Jamie Aylett tips one in at 15:51 for his 1st of the year. That's how this one ends with the final shots 46-12 for Montreal.

The Montreal Canadiens (3-2-0) are back at home at the friendly confines of the Bell Center to face the reigning Stanley Cup Champion New York Rangers (3-3-0). Montreal will be happy to have LW Emile Boudreau back in the line-up.


The Rangers get on the board first as LW Francois Roy tips one past G Bill Wolfenbarger for his 2nd of the year at 19:50 of the 1st period. The final shots in the 1st period were 15-5 for the Rangers.


Montreal ties up the game on the PP, LW Eric Brewer tips in LD Vincent Lavoie's point shot for his 2nd of the year at 18:12 of the 2nd period. A much better period for Montreal and the shots are now 22-19 for Montreal.


The Rangers grab a lead of 2-1 at 4:46 of the 3rd when RW Jack Eklund gets his 2nd of the season. Montreal could not find a way to get the equalizer and lose to Rangers while outshooting New York 32-29.

Montreal will take a short trip to Ottawa to face the (3-3-0) Senators. The Canadiens (3-3-0) will try to get back on the winning track.


Montreal gets an early 5 on 3 PP and take advantage. C Patrick Atkins gets set up by LW Emile Boudreau for his 5th of the year on the PP at 4:35 for the 1-0 lead. The officials evened it up with a 5 on 3 for Ottawa, but Montreal killed it. The period ends with the Habs out shooting the Sens 6-3.


Montreal capitalize for the 2nd time on the PP, C Jeff Pilbeam scores on a LW Eric Brewer feed at 2:31 of the 2nd period and a 2-0 lead. For Pilbeam it was his 3rd of the year. Montreal goes up 3-0 at 5:03 when LD Vincent Lavoie sends RW Li Wei in all alone and he bangs home his 2nd of the year. Montreal gets another, LW Eric Brewer is sent in all alone by LD Richard Nytra and he beats the Sens goalie for his 3rd of the year at 8:44 and its 4-0. Montreal goes up on the PP 5-0 as C Patrick Atkins tips in LW Emile Boudreau's shot for his 2nd of the night and 6th of the year at 17:22. That's the end of the Sens starting G night. Montreal wins the face off after the Atkins goal and LW Dave McAleer scores his 1st career NHL goal at 17:34 assisted by LD Richard Nystra. The period ends with the Habs up 6-0 and the shots are only 15-14 for Montreal.


There is no scoring in the 3rd period, the final shots on goal were 23-19 for Montreal. Rookie G Walt Ross gets his 1st career NHL shutout.


Montreal 6 Ottawa 0


Montreal RW Zach Broderick had 3 assists and was the 1st star. The 21 year old now has 0 goals and 4 points with 12 PIMs and a +1 rating in 7 games. In Broderick's rookie season last year, he had 7 goals in 42 games.

The score remains 0-0 after the 1st and Montreal is outshooting the Avalanche 10-6.


The Avalanche get on the board first, RW Klaus Rossignol tips one past G Bill Wolfenbarger for his 3rd of the season at 0:58 of the 2nd period. That's the only scoring in the 2nd period, the shots remain in Montreal's favor at 16-10.


Montreal gets back in the game at 4:18 of the 3rd period when C Patrick Atkins snaps one home after a nifty feed by LW Eric Brenner. With the game winding down RW Zach Broderick sends in the "hot hand" in all alone and C Patrick Atkins gets his 2nd of the night on the backhand at 19:38 and a 2-1 lead. It was Atkins 8th goal of the year. Montreal hangs on for the win.

The Toronto Maple Leafs (3-5-0) are in town to face the Montreal Canadiens (5-3-0) at the Bell Center.


The Leafs open up a 1-0 lead at 8:19 of the 1st period when RW Kerry Bula gets his 1st of the year beating G Bill Wolfenbarger. Montreal ties it up on the PP when LW Emile Boudreau fires one from the slot at 12:43 for his 1st of the year on a sweet feed by C Patrick Atkins. Montreal out shot the Leafs 11-9 and the score is 1-1.


The Leafs get a PP marker of their own as LD Tim O'Keefe gets his 1st of the campaign at 5:06 of the 2nd period. Montreal ties it up 2-2 as C Jeff Pilbeam wins a draw in the Leafs zone and LD Vincent Lavioe fires it in for his 1st of the year at 5:36. That's how the 2nd period ends with the shots 28-13 in favour of Montreal.


Montreal had to kill a 5 on 3 early in the 3rd. C Jeff Pilbeam fires a shot from the high slot on a feed from RD Dominick Heatherington for his 4th goal of the year at 15:28 and Montreal are up 3-2. Montreal puts it out of reach when RD Rinat Sadriyev collects and buries a rebound off of RW Petr Klusacek's shot at 19:07 to make it 4-2 on Sadriyev's 1st goal of the season. LW Randolph Lott adds an empty netter for his 2nd of the year at 19:36. The shots finish 46-17 for Montreal.

The Montreal Canadiens (6-3-0) travel to the Motor City to face the Detroit Red Wings (5-3-0) at Little Caesars Place. They are meeting for the first time this year.


The Red Wings open up a 1-0 lead at 18:09 when RW Josef Hanak beats G Walt Ross from the right face-off circle for his 3rd of the year. The period ends up 1-0 for Detroit and they have a slight lead in shots on goal at 9-8.


Montreal gets on the board on the PP at 6:43 of the 2nd period when RW Joey Mariani deflects LW Zach Broderick's shot for his 1st of the season. Detroit regains the lead 2-1 at 10:15 when RW Ken Patterson is sent in all alone on a breakaway and beats G Ross for his 4th of the year. The 2nd period ends with the Red Wings up a goal and the shots are tied 19-19. Montreal will start the 3rd on a 1:16 PP.


Just after killing the PP, Detroit goes up 3-1 when LW Albert Ladner scores from the high slot and gets his 1st of the year at 1:34 of the 3rd period. Detroit puts this one away with a goal by LW Lukas Simoes from the high slot at 17:38 of the 3rd period. Simoes 4th goal of the season makes it 4-1. The game ends with the shots 29-25 for Detroit.

Detroit Red Wings LW Albert Ladner gets career point 100 in the game. The 37 year old now has 43 goals and 100 points in 295 career NHL games.

The Montreal Canadiens (6-4-0) travel to the TD Gardens to face the Boston Bruins (6-4-0). Montreal won the only meeting so far this year 3-2.


The Bruins open a 1-0 lead as RW Ben Carter scores his 2nd of the year from the slot and beats G Bill Wolfenbarger at 6:53 of the 1st. The period ends with the Bruins leading 1-0 at the shots also favoring Boston 13-6.


Boston goes up 2-0 as LW Jordan Heed scores from down low at 5:06 for his 3rd goal of the year. The 2nd period ends with the Bruins up by 2 goals and out shooting Montreal 23-14. Montreal has 0:14 remaining on a PP to start the 3rd period.


There was no scoring in the 3rd period but the Bruins continued to be dominant with the final shots being 43-18 for Boston.

The Montreal Canadiens (6-5-0) remain on the road with a visit to the PPG Paints Center and the Pittsburgh Penguins (4-4-1). Both teams are meeting for the first time this season.


The first period ends scoreless. Montreal held a slight edge in shots on goal at 6-4.


The Penguins open the scoring at 13:12 of the 2nd period as RW Weston Holt scores from the slot and beats G Bill Wolfenbarger for his 1st goal of the season. The period ends with the shots 12-9 for Montreal after two.


The Canadiens and Penguins had a scoreless 3rd period as Montreal gets shut out for the 2nd straight game. The shots were 22-18 for Montreal.


Pittsburgh 1 Montreal 0

The Montreal Canadiens (6-6-0) continue on the road to the Barclays Center and the New York Islanders (3-6-1) This will be the teams first meeting of the season.


Montreal opens the scoring at 1:52 of the 1st period when RD Steven Thornton's point shot is deflected by LW Robert Cull in the slot for Cull's 1st goal of the season. The Islanders tie it up at 9:18 when LW Ron Oxford tips in a shot from inside the slot for his 4th of the year. Montreal goes up 2-1 shortly after when LW Emile Boudreau tips C Dean Casey's shot in the slot for his 2nd of the season at 11:52. The Islanders tie the game again 2-2 while on the PP, LD Stefan Arbet grabs a rebound and slaps it in from down low at 14:43. The period ends tied 2-2 with the shots favouring Montreal 15-8. Montreal will start the 2nd on the PP for 1:13.


Montreal C Patrick Atkins get into his first NHL fight with 5 minutes left in the period. He faired well and was given the decision by the Canadiens radio crew. Montreal dominated the period and are now outshooting the Islanders 29-12 but the game remains tied 2-2.


Montreal grabs a 3-2 lead at 15:59 of the 3rd period. LW Eric Brenner slaps one from the outside the left dot after getting a feed from RW Zack Broderick for his 4th goal of the year. Montreal hangs on for the win outshooting the Islanders 35-19 in the game.

The Montreal Canadiens (7-6-0) will play their 3rd straight game in 3 nights with a visit to the Verizon Center and a date with the Washington Capitals (8-3-0) The teams are playing their first game against each other this year.


It didn't take long, but Montreal opens up the scoring at 0:11 when C Dean Casey deflects LW Emile Boudreau's shot in the slot for his 2nd of the year. The Habs defended well and the shots at the end of the first are 9-0 for Montreal. Montreal will start with a 1.58 PP in the 2nd period.


At 3:22 of the 2nd period, LW Jordan Hietkamp is sent in alone on a breakaway and his deke beats G Bill Wolfenbarger for his 1st of the year. It was also the Capitals first shot on net this game. The Capitals get a 2-1 lead at 15:48 on only their 4th shot of the game. C Jude Jordan's deflection from in tight give Jordan 7 goals on the season. The 2nd period ends with the Caps leading by a goal yet being out shot 12-4.


Montreal ties the game as LW Emile Boudreau hammers a shot from the high slot after a pass from RD Anthony Reynolds and we are tied 2-2 at 8:59 on Boudreau's 3rd of the season. The Capitals take the lead again at 13:29 when C Jason Moser's deflection up close makes it 3-2. It was Moser's 3rd of the year. The Capitals seal the deal with an empty net PP goal by C Jude Jordan, a shot he took from the left point for his 8th of the season at 19:59. The final shots were 25-15 for Montreal.


Washington 4 Montreal 2


Washington C Jason Moser was named the 1st star with his goal. The 22 year old now has 3 goals and 6 points with 6 PIMs and a +3 rating in 12 games. For his career, Moser has 87 goals and 180 points in 228 NHL games.


New York Rangers C Ben Williamson had 3 assists in a 6-3 win over the Islanders. The 33 year old now has 4 goals and 11 points with 6 PIMs and a +1 rating in 7 games. Williamson started his NHL career with the Predators until a July 20th, 2004 trade sent him to the Big Apple.

The Montreal Canadiens (7-7-0) 7 game road trip continues on to the Wells Fargo Center and the Philadelphia Flyers (6-5-2). Montreal won the first meeting this season 4-2.


The Flyers get an early opening goal as C Zach Paterson gets his 3rd on a shot from the left side at a sharp angle for the 1-0 lead at just 0:55. Montreal ties it up at 9:36 when RW Zack Broderick's wrister from near the left point beats the Flyer goalie on a pass from C Patrick Atkins. It was Broderick's 1st of the year. The period ends tied 1-1 with the Flyers holding a 11-8 shot advantage.


Montreal takes the lead on the PP as LD Richard Nytra gets in deep and tips C Patrick Atkins shot from in close for his 1st of the year at 18:56 of the 2nd period. The period ends 2-1 for Montreal with the shots now 18-17 for Montreal.


Montreal goes up 3-1 as LD Richard Nytra gets his 2nd of the night and season on a slap shot from the left point. LW Eric Brenner fed the puck back to Nytra at 2:52 of the 3rd period. Montreal extend the lead to 4-1 as RD Rinat Sadriyev gets his 2nd of the year on a shot from the high slot after a rebound on RW Petr Klusacek's shot at 4:08. Montreal have a good 3rd period to beat the Flyers while outshooting them 32-22.


Montreal 4 Philadelphia 1


Philadelphia Flyers Zach Paterson played in his 300th game today. The 32 year old has 68 goals and 185 points during his NHL career.


Montreal LD Richard Nytra was the 1st star with his 2 goals and 1 assist. The 21 year old now has 2 goals and 7 points with 4 PIMs and a +1 rating in 15 games.

The Montreal Canadiens (8-7-0) are on their final game of the road trip with a stop at the KeyBank Center and the Buffalo Sabres (3-8-1) The two meet for the first time this season.


The Sabres go on the PP early and score early as RW Craig Tollison tips a shot past G Martin King for his 6th goal of the year, a PP goal at 0:55 of the 1st. The period was dominated by Montreal as the shots were 14-3 for the Habs, but they trail 1-0.


Montreal responds on the PP themselves, C Patrick Atkins gets a breakaway beats the Sabres goalie in close for his 9th goal of the season, a PP goal at 0:54 of the 2nd. RD Steven Thornton sprung Atkins. Montreal goes up 2-1 on a breakaway goal by LW Emile Boudreau. RW Joey Mariani's pass sets up Boudreau and he dekes the Sabres goalie for his 4th of the year at 5:47. Montreal extends the lead to 3-1 at 6:56 of the 2nd as RW Petr Klusacek's shot from right point goes in. For Klusacek it was his 2nd of the year on a nice pass from RD Steven Thornton. Montreal is now up 4-1 as C Patrick Atkins wrister from the high slot beats the Sabres goalie. LW Eric Brenner got an assist with the set up as Atkins gets his 10th of the year at 10:31. Montreal now leads the shots 27-7 after 2 periods.


Montreal go up 5-1 as LW Robert Cull gets his 2nd of the year at 7:05 of the 3rd period. RW Li Wei sets up Cull who's shot from the slot goes in. Montreal out shoot the Sabres 44-9 in the game for the win.


Montreal 5 Buffalo 1


Montreal C Patrick Atkins is the 1st star with 2 goals. The 20 year old now has 10 goals and 18 points with 9 PIMs and a +8 rating in 16 games. Atkins won a Memorial Cup in 2003 and was the NHL's 2004 Rookie of the Year.


Colorado Avalanche will be with out RD Nicolas Petit for 3 weeks due to a sprained ankle. The 28 year old now has 3 goals and 4 points with 16 PIMs and a -4 rating in 16 games.

The Buffalo Sabres (4-9-1) are at the Bell Center to take on the Montreal Canadiens (9-7-0). Montreal won the only meeting this year with a 5-1 score in Buffalo.


Montreal goes up 1-0 at 5:38 on RW Petr Klusacek's 3rd goal of the season. Klusacek picked up a rebound off of RW Zach Broderick's stick in front of the net. Montreal goes up 2-0 at 6:26 with Dean Casey's 3rd goal of the year. Casey pounced on a rebound in close off of LW Emile Boudreau's shot. The period ends with Montreal out shooting Buffalo 16-3.


Montreal grabs a 3-0 lead at 2:41 of the 2nd period on LW Robert Cull's 3rd goal of the year. Cull grabs a rebound from the left high slot after the Sabres goalie made a save on C James Courcy. Montreal extends the lead to 4-0 while on a 4 on 4 LW Eric Brenner hammers his 5th of the year home. Brenner converted from the high slot a pass from RD Steven Thornton. The Sabres break the shut out at 14:55 when C Ivan Horvath beats G Bill Wolfenbarger for his 2nd of the year and the score is now 4-1. The 2nd period ends with the shots 27-10 in favour of Montreal.


Montreal adds insult to injury with a SH goal at 12:25 of the 3rd period when C Dean Casey scores his 4th of the year. Casey is set up in the slot by RD Steven Thornton for the 5-1 lead. The final shots in the game were 38-18 for Montreal.


Montreal 5 Buffalo 1


Montreal C Dean Casey is the 1st star with his 2 goals and an assist. The 22 year old now has 4 goals and 9 points with 6 PIMs and a +2 rating in 17 games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs (3-13-1) are in town to face the Montreal Canadiens (10-7-0) at the Bell Center. Montreal is 2-0 against the Leafs this year with identical 5-2 score wins.


There is no scoring in the 1st period, Montreal out shot the Leafs 10-3 and the Leafs will start the 2nd period on the PP for 1:23.


The Leafs open the scoring at 5:03 of the 2nd period when RD Ace Ojala gets his 1st of the year on the PP. Ojala batted home a juicy rebound past G Bill Wolfenbarger from in close. The Leafs go up 2-0 at 5:47 with RW Shawn McElroy's 1st goal of the season. McElroy scored from inside the slot. The 2nd period ends with the shots 15-12 for Montreal but the Canadien's need to find a way to get back into the game.


Montreal pours it on in the 3rd but cannot beat G Brent Wiwcharuk as the game ends with the shots 24-13 for Montreal. Wiwcharuk hit a milestone for 5000 career saves during the game.


Toronto 2 Montreal 0


Toronto RW Shawn McElroy was named the 1st star with his goal. The 36 year old now has 1 goal and 1 point with 2 PIMs and a -1 rating in 15 games. McElroy had a career high of 36 points twice in his career, most recently in 71 games with the Devils in 2001-02.

The Montreal Canadiens (10-8-0) travel to the Air Canada Center for the second half of a back to back with the Toronto Maple Leafs (4-13-1) The Canadiens are 2-1-0 vs the Leafs this year.


Montreal wasted no time tonight to get on the board, C Dean Casey gets his 5th of the season at 0:21 to make it 1-0. Casey tipped LW Emile Boudreau's shot from in close. Montreal goes up 2-0 at 2:18 as RW Petr Klusacek gets his 4th of the year. Klusacek shot from the slot on a pass from C Jeff Pilbeam. Montreal extends the lead to 3-0 on the PP as LW Emile Boudreau gets his 5th of the season at 10:38. Boudreau whacks at a lose puck in the crease after RW Joey Mariani's chance was stopped by the Leaf goalie. It was all Montreal in the 1st period with the shots 22-3 for the Habs.


The Leafs get on the board on the PP at 3:35 with LW Radek Cigler's 3rd of the year. Cigler's shot from the left face off circle beats G Martin King. The period ends with a 31-17 shot lead and start the 3rd period with 1:35 left on a Leaf major penalty.


At the 6:17 of the 3rd, Montreal C James Courcy gets into a fight. The shots were 34-20 at the time. Montreal gets a PP goal at 13:58 as RD Steven Thornton gets his 2nd of the year. Thornton's slap shot from the right point is set up by LW Emile Boudreau. Its 4-1 for Montreal and the game ends with the final shots 39-25 for Montreal.


Montreal 4 Toronto 1


Montreal LW Emile Boudreau had a goal and 2 assists and was named the 1st star. The 22 year old now has 5 goals and 15 points with 12 PIMs and a +0 rating in 17 games. Boudreau had a career high with 59 points in 70 games for Montreal last year.

The Montreal Canadiens (11-8-0) into Michigan and the Little Caesars Place to play the Detroit Red Wings (10-6-2). The Red Wings won the only meeting this season 4-1.


Montreal grabs the early 1-0 lead at 6:00 when C Dean Casey gets his 6th of the season. Casey's shot from the high left face circle is set up by LW Emile Boudreau. Montreal goes up 2-0 at 17:12 when C Patrick Atkins gets his 11th of the year. Atkins converts a RW Joey Mariani feed from the slot for the goal. After the 1st the shots are 7-6 for Montreal.


The Red Wings make it 2-1 at 10:20 of the 2nd period on LW Lukas Simoes 8th goal of the year. Simoes pounced on a rebound to beat G Bill Wolfenbarger. Detroit ties it up 2-2 at 12:52 when RW Ed Bryant gets his 5th of the year. Bryant knocks in a rebound from the slot for the goal. The 2nd period ends with the shots 25-11 for Detroit.


Montreal's LW Robert Cull gets into a fight, not a bad choice taking off the Red Wings #1 LW Chad Deraspe for 5 minutes at 8:23 of the 3rd. The shots on goal are currently 26-12 for Detroit. Detroit gets the go ahead goal on the PP at 10:12 when LD Connor McMurtie gets his 3rd of the year from the right point. Another scrap at 11:52, this time its C Patrick Atkins the Habs leading scorer going off for 5 minutes. Montreal cannot get any momentum and the game ends with the shots 31-16 for the Red Wings.


Detroit 3 Montreal 2


Detroit LW Lukas Simoes was the 1st star with his goal. The 22 year old now has 8 goals and 8 points with 2 PIMs and a +2 rating in 19 games. Simoes had a career high 11 goals in 67 games last year with the Red Wings.
