Future draft picks

Hello Francis,

In madden we had two years' worth of future round picks(next year's picks and the year after picks) that we could trade. How many years into the future we we be able to trade draft picks?

For instance if it's 2018 will we be able to trade our 2021 1st Round pick? I know it's early in development but thought I would ask.

We'd probably stick to 2 as well.

Is there a real life rule regarding this? Like could a team in real life include a 2020 draft pick in a trade now?

I had a cursory look at the CBA and could not see anything.

Wouldn't they classify it traded it for "future considerations"

I don't think you can do that in the NFL. I think you have to specify exactly what is being traded at the time of the trade. You don't see PTBNL trades in the NFL.

Oh boy. I could see myself trading Kam Chancellor for a 2019 1st Round pick because then I would choose Russell Wilson's successor without anyone figuring out my plans. I know the game is early in development but just a thought. :-)

I don't think there's any specific rule against it. IIRC teams quite often trade conditional draft picks (eg, you get this RB, if he gets to the pro bowl we get a 2nd round pick, if not we get a 4th round pick).
