To DH, or not to DH?
Update: It is decided, DH in both leagues.
So, here's a question... how do you guys want us to handle the DH? Leagues in Perfect Team will be set up in MLB format (2 sub-leagues, 3 divisions each, 5 teams each) but with a balanced schedule that also has interleague play. Now, do we want a DH in both leagues, in none, or like real life in one league and not the other (meaning it's random if you have a DH, depending on the sub-league you get seeded in for each season)?

The DH is misguided, morally wrong, and makes the ice caps melt - thus: no DH, never, ever!

I would have liked to be able to vote for multiple options, as I like to have real life rules (what I chose) OR both leagues having a DH as an option.
Personally, I think it'd be best if before you join a league, you can choose one of those 3 options and get in a league based on your preference. |

It doesn’t make sense to force players to control lineups for both methods in every league. Therefore, it should be all or none. In a simulation like this, there is no value to having pitchers hit so that the AI can have more fun deploying strategies. We aren’t even watching the games. Therefore, it should be all DH.

i feel there should be no DH, but what the majority of people who will actually use this feature should be the ones to decide. From what i've seen and read, i'm not likely to be one to use this. So, whatever the poll says - is how it should proceed in my mind.

No DH, under any circumstances whatsoever. Something that should never have been adopted in the real world for ANY leagues, in my view. And something I'll always turn off whenever and wherever I can with OOTP, for sure, if I can remember to do so, of course. CD out.

I think it should be both or none and have no great preference of which one, but since the poll is set up the way it is and I am a fan of a NL team then I voted none.

I'm a huge fan of keeping real life rules in regards to the DH in general, however when you play modes similarly styled to this, such as MLB The Show's Diamond Dynasty, you for sure want the DH. It really gives you a good chance and reason to use more players and have a bit more fun with it.

No three-division setups per league by default, please, and also please do not have an odd number of teams per league or interleague regular-season play either by default. Thank you. CD out.

Part of me thinks it should be real life rules as PT seems to be trying to emulate current MLB, but it could really hurt someone if their team played interleague games and they didn't set up their lineups accordingly.
I'd of course prefer some hybrid alternative DH rule (see my sig), but, as I'm sure that's not a feasible option, I'd say all DH or no DH. Just not split. |

I used to be a purist. But there is no joy in watching a pitcher bat, especially when these cards allow us to load up on the best talent possible. Yes to DH.

I happen to think if pitchers batted, then there might be better policing of certain things on the field than there might be now. I also think pitch counts are largely dumb, and that they might be part of the reason so many pitchers get hurt more frequently as they used to on average, if I'm not too mistaken about that here. Simply because they often may not get as much work as they used to, et cetera, even twenty or more years ago, at least.
In my view, four-man rotations are usually the best to have, at most. Plus a bullpen of about 4 or so good relievers, and then a deep bench of position players, depending on roster size limits, more or less. Five or more starters and more than five or six relievers, and pitchers may often not get enough work to either keep them healthier or happier, I think, most times, at least. But then again, people are afraid their people will get hurt, mainly due to monetary concerns often, perhaps, I'm sure. I understand where they may be coming from here, but nobody, even in non-athletic pursuits of any kind, can ever get better at what they do without having to work more often than not at it, of course. So I vote no DH, no interleague play outside of the All-Star Break, the postseason, or special tournaments, and absolutely no odd number of teams and/or divisions in any league by default, for sure. That's all I want to say here for this post, at least, I think. CD out. |
