Temporary players in international tournament and odd start date

I was in November 2004 in my fictional game, first day of the offseason, and I decided to add an international tournament.

I put 8 teams and let the teams be selected by player quality (so as the game dictated the top 8 nations would be selected to compete in the tournament).

When the tournament came around, all the teams looked fine except for United States and Mexico. They were both completely filled with "temporary players" .... which appear to be just made up players when a nation doesn't have enough to fill a team. The only thing is, there are plenty of American players (the most out of any country in my game world) and also plenty of MExicans too. Any idea why this happened?

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact I screwed up the date of the tournament .... I had accidentally put for the first tournament to take place March 2004 (I obviously meant March 2005, as I was presently in November 2004)... So the tournament ended up happening basically right away. Not sure if that would lead to this situation or not.

Anyway, any advice would be great!

Bump... anyone with an idea or seen "temporary players" themselves?

Yes make sure you have affiliated all leagues to the tournament so it knows to pull American and Mexicans from your real leagues. If it can't find enough that's when it creates temporary players.

I did have all my leagues selected. Every other team except Mexico and America had regular players from those leagues.

USA has the most players in the my universe (more than 1,000), so that's not the reason.

I'm sure it was probably something to do with the fact I set up the wrong starting date and had it earlier than I was in the game. I'll see when the tournament comes up again in 2 years if I have that issue.

I saw the amount of temp players reduced if not gone when I adjusted the min level a player could be in to international complex.
