Rating Michael Spinks at CW
I was digging up info on Michael Spinks because I was thinking about rating him and using him eventually in my CW division. I always thought he was an excellent LHW. Not better than Bob Foster or Archie Moore (Ezzard Charles, etc.) but I'm up in the air with the KD rating.
He was rocked as a LHW, but like Miguel Cotto in the current day, he always recovered. Yeah, he got blasted by Mike Tyson. But that was a prime Tyson hitting him on the chin. I'm trying to picture how he would have fared against the version of Evander Holyfield in his second fight with Qawi. |

Spinks and Holifield are most likely near the same level as CWs. Look at both of their fights with Qawi.

Also, I had a Billy Conn Heavyweight ranking but it disappeared a PC crash. It would be good to have a file with him at LHW, CW & Heavyweight. Last edited by Jim_Kidd; 06-10-2007 at 02:33 PM. |

The Roy Jones who beat John Ruiz could have easily picked up a CW belt on the way. Rating these guys at CW makes things very interesting. |

Appreciate the effort (and the quick turnaround, LOL!).

In the HBF/IBL, I'm planning on having Spinks go from Light-Heavy to Cruiser (called Junior-Heavy in the HBF) and then on to Heavy. When he moves up, I'll probably use the weight division movement chart from cornerwork.

Rating Cruiserweights
The way I rated Spinks at CW, and I am currently working on my top 25 CWs of all -time, I take Spinks and his Hw rating and Lhw rating, average them out in the middle to get his CW ratings, many fighters are easy, as several have like say an 11 at HW and a 13 for example at LHW, so those are easy, I then give them a 12 at CW and do all the middle rankings for their other ratings, I think this is as good as any way to figure out a fighters CW ratings, I also have gone through the HW and LHW ranks and especially the HWs and found all of the those that fought consistantly under 200 pounds, and those are the ones I've concentrated on for CW. like
Marciano, Dempsey, Patterson, Schmeling and others. |

I made my file and as I wrote in another post, it dominates all of my Cruiserweights of all-time.
