Gene Holt?
I can't figure out who the Kansas City A's pitcher shown above as Gene Holt is. Can anyone help? The career minor leaguer Gene Holt in baseball-reference seems to have been born too early and showed no indication of having been affiliated with the A's.

Thanks to all of these great images and others posted on Gambo over the past few months, I will be uploading a new baseball card update for the seasons I do cards for (1956-1973 this weekend. There are just under 1400 cards in this update. All the previous card sets have been removed from my website and will be replaced by the new seasonal zips.Over the 18 seasons, there are about 46,450 cards in the set. Look for them here in about 24 hours: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/v3j...h/Sports_Cards
Thanks again to all of you who have posted images/cards. Jeff |

Adam Wilk (Mets custom)
Gather ye Adam Wilks while ye may.
I feel bad for Adam Wilk. I probably shouldn't. Mets morale is such these days that there may be a lot of players in the orange and blue feeling envious of Adam, having escaped to Minnesota. But we dragged him all over the country, ensuring he'd be sleep deprived, gave him one outing (in which he got hammered), then tossed him away like so much tissue paper in favor of Tommy Milone. But, in the history books, Adam Wilk was a Met. He appeared in the same number of games with the Mets as did Doc Medich and one more than Billy Cotton, Terrel Hansen, Jim Bibby, and Mac Suzuki (all regular season Mets) combined. Getty got some nice shots of Adam's one Mets game. There's the Photo Day shots, of course (he's smiling in those). But I knew what I was looking for (atty-tude) and none of those are it. So I went yearbook. And I kinda like the result (though I do wish he hadn't gotten "spine" placement). So, Adam, this one's for you, dude (work product included below, but card first). And, Adam, if it helps...Milone's not in the yearbook and you are. So you got that goin' for you. Which is nice. |

Archer image was early Vault post AK 372. Was one of the cleanups I discovered earlier this year. By comparison:
