Creating a Quickstart

I got a quickstart league file from another user. There are some league settings that I would like to change. After making those changes, I would like to create a new quickstart file. According to this page of the manual, I should be seeing a "save a quickstart" option. However, I'm not seeing it.

Here's a screenshot. What am I missing?

The option "Save as Quickstart" is only available after you generated a new game (the date should always be August 15th). The moment you simulate for the first time, it is no longer possible to save your game as quickstart. So if the quickstart you got is already simulated, it does not work. If you simulated, load the original quickstart, do your changes and then save is as a new quickstart.

So you can't create a league, simulated a number of years to build a history, and then save it as a quickstart?

That's disappointing.

So it looks like the Quickstart I downloaded has a current date of August 1st. So I can't edit anything as far as the league rules go since it's not July 1st. Guess I'll just have to copy everything into my own custom league and do the Quickstart from there? That sound accurate?

That's possible, or just save the game as an alternate file, that can work just as well as making a quickstart file.

Okay. I've got my league kind of set up to create my quickstart. However, I can't seem to figure out how to alter the playoff structure. Clicked on "Edit" in the league area of the "Team + League Controls" tab but I'm not finding anything.

Can anyone offer a little help?

So let me get this straight. When you create the league, the game sets up your playoff structure for you?

For instance, say you create a league of 18 teams. You just get the top 16 in the playoffs and there's nothing you can do to change that?

It uses the PO structure from the original league structure.

Fictional is not the main focus of the FHM series. You can see it as bonus to the normal modern game setup, which is our main focus. If we ever reach 17 versions, I´m sure we will have a deeper fictional mode as well.

I see. So when you say it uses the "original league structure", what exactly does that mean? Where does the original league structure come from? The point at which you create the league? If so, is there an option to choose the playoff structure when you create the league from scratch?

All fictional setups are based on real world leagues (the ones we have schedules for). So if you pick the setup which is based on the DEL, you use the DEL Playoffs as well.

I think it would be a good idea to at least show what the Playoffs will look like (and in a second step allow the user to switch between fitting PO systems at startup). When we have some time (most likely not before release) we will look into it.

Okay. I understand now. Since I chose my league to be modeled on the NHL, I got 16 playoff teams even though I only had 18 teams in the entire league.

Thanks for clearing that up.
