I'd complain about all these penalties but I might be called for holding for doing it.

I'm starting to think the refs are doing this intentionally, either as retaliation to the league for demoting all full-time refs or to push the league to re-negotiate their CBA which iirc is up after this season.

What tickles me is Teflon Tom Brady complaining about it. We already have an opponent claiming the ref warned him not to touch Brady. Now Tom is criticizing the refs for the way they handle their job. It will be interesting to see how the Pats game is called this week.

Next time you want to call NFL players pampered or greedy, remember this C.J. Anderson story - Pat Forde

Parts of the Broncos' week 4 advance scouting report has leaked out. It sums up, "Gardner Minshew. You can't stop him; you can only hope to contain him."

I was wondering, "How in the hell did CJ go mostly unemployed last season after running for 1k+ yards the season before? And why, after his short-but-solid stint replacing Todd Gurley (that included solid playoff performances) did he not find lasting employment for this season?"

This certainly does NOT undercut the "good guy" angle, but here's something I found on a Michigan Live Q&A, a reply to someone asking why he got cut:

"C.J. Anderson’s release was a surprise, given the timing, but not exactly a shock either. He was brought in to be the bruiser in the backfield, the guy who could pick up short-yardage situations, but he just wasn’t getting it done. He had two carries on third-and-short and another on second-and-short, and lost a combined 6 yards on them. He didn’t even make it back to the line of scrimmage. On any of them.

He carried the ball 16 times in two games. He gained one first down.

It didn’t take long for the Lions to start going away from him either. Rookie T.J. Johnson played more snaps and got more carries last week, and appears to be very much on the rise. I think he’s going to be the No. 2 back right now, with J.D. McKissic still playing a lot in the backfield and split out.

The Lions really like Kerryon Johnson as their lead back. They also really like tweeners who can play running back and receiver, and Ty Johnson and McKissic are both that. Paul Perkins will fit into that mix too once he’s up to speed, plus plays on special teams, which Anderson did not."

Again, this is not to contradict the point of Cobra Mgr's post; just to point out the Lion's apparent football reasoning for his release... It'll be interesting to see which - if any - team picks him up. Seems like a guy I'd want on my team. Who wouldn't want a versatile, productive, and experienced backup RB, who also appears to be a good-character type guy?

I don't think the Lions were wrong for what they did. Because this is life in the NFL. 90 % of the rosters have their careers ended by no choice of their own. But I think the gist of the article is that despite the money and glory, the emotional toll of a sudden dismissal still stings no matter who you are.

The heat around Brown just go to be too much and now he is gone.
This is the NFL so nothing would surprise me given how they handle players with violent accusations against women. But I think last week was his last ever professional game.

In 10 years we will look back at this and this would make a great 30 for 30. Just a wild story from Week 17 of last season until now.

I am sure they will make back $90 million when they win another SB in February. They are still the best team in the NFL.

Well i guess that puts the Patriots/AB conspiracy theory to rest. A the end of the day it appears like the patriots were just taking advantage of a situation and AB was just an idiot. AB might be getting that rude awakening that rules do apply to him. I dont agree his career is over. That is unless he goes to jail.
The patriots didn't need him.
If he is innocent he might get a chance with another team but it would be a team like the dolphins that need to sell some tickets. He would also be looking at a whole less money. I wouldn't be surprised if his agent drops him. I kinda lean towards his career being over but if he could clean up his act he might get another chance next training camp but i don't see a top team taking a chance on him and even for a bad team it might take him a long time to straighten up.
Seems to me the NFL might look at getting him some help. Maybe he suffered a brain injury.
Only player i know that lost a 30 million guaranteed contract, the patriots contract and was release by 3 teams all in one year.
How is that even possible?

The biggest losers are the Raiders and Steelers.

The Raiders for giving up draft picks and never even having him playing a single game. And the Steelers for getting back pretty bad draft picks for a generational talent at his position.

New England lost money but NFL teams print that stuff.
