Tactics/Player roles

Hello,

I have started a new game after purchasing, btw this game looks soo much better than the previous two, and amazing that you guys now have an official licence!

I have seen the tactics have been changed, which is amazing also, however as i am new to hockey, i am wondering which players actually suit each role etc? as it does not seem to indicate, and with the overall team tactics, i dont know which suits my team best? any tips?

When you're assigning players to roles, they have between 1 and 5 dots to represent how well they'll fill that role.

If you read the role descriptions, they generally tell you what kind of player fits best.

Keep in mind that the AI is using rating which may or may not line up with how you think the team should be set up, or how their real NHL counterpart sets up.

We have suggested to the devs that an entry on the player's scouting report about what kind of role(s) the player is best suited be added. Another thing that would help would be to have an assistant that would tell you the best type of system to use for the players you have available, but that's going to be a lot of work to do well.

What I ended up doing was choosing my systems, then just building a spreadsheet to track who had the most dots for each role. It's pretty labor intensive, and I ended up going more with what I thought would work than what the computer said would work.

My suggestion would be have the computer tell you what it thinks is best, then make tweaks from there to see what makes most sense to you.

Has anyone done any untilities that outline all the different player roles? I seem to be having troubles matching the roster with a tactic.

Me too, i played 1 season as Chicago and got smashed

If you're playing sandbox, make sure to edit your GM/Coach ratings to something above the default 5's you get. You'll get killed all the time. You'll need Commissioner Mode for that.

In PtG, you get an opportunity to set those when setting up the game.

So my attributes actually matter in this game? that's cool, i will leave them as they are and wait for them to improve, i don't like the idea of use commissioner mode.
