It would be a nice addition. Some here are absolutely dead set against it, which is kind of strange. Again, if you don't want to play it, don't. I think in the past the developers have said it was among the finalist for features in this year's version, so whether you like it or not, it's probably coming eventually.

has no value for me, but if others would like it, it would be a feature i wouldn't have to use, so that's OK. This game is so adaptable, any feature you love can be used and those you don't like, can be turned off, or ignored.

Does it have to be a major, difficult-to code event? Just take the most powerful hittters of the league, roll some dice, weighted by the power factors (so that a guy with 100 power will win much more often than one with 70) and at the end, declare a winner, runner-up and third place. Write a nice newsfeed, and the winner gets an award like he would get one for MVP, GG, SS, etc. with "Home run derby winner (insert year here)".

There will always be more important things to work on, but you also need to add new features each year to get repeat customers and new ones too.

I would add this to a prioritized list of possible additions.

Also, you guys that are getting upset about the communist line...lighten up, it was just a joke.

I agree. I don't care for it, but if others want it.....
That's one of the things that make this game so great, you can change things to your preferences.

I think most people (excluding many of our forum fanatics like me) probably sim right through All-Star games. I enjoy the All-Star game. It's a perfect opportunity for immersion.

So true with me Pawn .... I sim the all-star game but I play out my team games. Truth be told I will sim half the game if I feel lazy that day. More so if I am trying to finish a season before the next version of OOTP

I get that most people probably wouldn't enjoy the home run derby. I would love to see it and really just started the thread because I was in the mood to socialize.

But it turns out that I'm in a 3-1 minority. The people that want a home run derby are nothing but a loud vocal minority.

I changed my mind.

I agree. If it's added, great, if not, that's great too. Doesn't matter one way or another. A great game either way. I only have time to play once a week if I'm lucky, so I would never get into it that deep anyway.

I'd love to see a Home Run Derby but I don't think its the biggest issue at the moment. I'd much rather see a World Baseball Classic.

When I was a kid I used to watch black and white HR Derby contests of the old-time ball players. Those shows really drew me into baseball and taught me a lot about the historical players.

Because of that I have very fond memories of HR derbies.

I really don't like all the commercials and the superbowlization of the HR derby as most of you don't. But "in-game" I wouldn't have to worry about all that nonsense. I could set it up the way I like it and enjoy the very first thing that got me interested in baseball all those years ago.

JK... it would be easy to add... i can't see it being difficult. it has been apart of the game for quite some time now... not many reasons to keep it out... even though i could care less about it.

e.g.
after ASG votes i delete the event and remove it from the schedule so i can have a shorter season (no weekend off etc). and weather isn't even important ... there's no tangible reason why i do it, lol.... dumb-dumb, dumb-dumb, dumb.

i dislike the frilly stuff, but i don't think it should be removed from the game. same with adding a hr derby... i won't like it, but i think it shuold be part of the game - or at least rational and 'normal' to be. i couldn't pick an option of the choices for the poll. i do think more important things should be worked on first, but slipping it in isn't a problem either.
