As a baseball historian, I primarily reside in the first group, occasionally dipping into the second group (the skill of our resident colorizers has me experimenting in this second group much more often than I had previously considered). These, however, are simply my personal preferences.

There is room here for all of the above mentioned groups, as well as any others I have inadvertently missed. Every contribution is appreciated and I encourage everyone to participate, whatever your particular interests may be.
I agree completely. My reason for posting the comment was directed only at the post quoted. I do not wish for a person to take their time to alter an image simply to satisfy the UIN list and perhaps be surprised that is was not used. The UIN was specifically mentioned in the post so I was just letting them know altered images would not be used for that purpose. No other reason for the post other than that one.

I also consider myself as a baseball historian. If I may submit a different perspective. Baseball has always been played in colored uniforms and it was just the limitation of the image reproducing technology present at the time that turned it into a black and white era. I am very much of the viewpoint that I first saw voiced by Matt Fulling that colorization brings that image very much to life. I believe we should try and research uniform details and build up a uniform information database, extending the current one if possible to the 19th century so that we can, as much as possible, present an accurate representation of images as they were really were, not as the limitations of technology showed them to be.

I am enormously appreciative of those who are contributing to this thread in such a skilled manner in respect of their colorizations.

Agree,However,Offer

I certainly agree, color adds to the "realism" of the photo's.However,I like full figure photo's a lot more, than the face shots.
Reasons: One can see the equipment (bats, gloves, shoe's,uniforms)of any given era.Backgrounds crowd,(how fans are dressed-signs-parts of stadiums, etc.)
For me it increases the "immersion" factor tremendously.Keep in mind,I'm not a collector as such, but rather an in-game player of OOTP.I play from the 1930's-thru the 1950's-hopefully live long enough to get to the 60's(I'm 72 yrs old --so no surprise).
Offer-I will/would be Over Joyed to reimburse anyone with cash or Omaha Steak assortments of equal value,to colorize the 1949 Lineup project TNFOTO did for me. (can be found Mods/Photos forum)1 shot of each player (best full/action).
I'm aware of the tremendous amount of work it would take, but,WOW,it sure would be an incredible achievement, and certainly enjoyed by many for a very long time.
If anyone is interested contact me by PM-or golander40@yahoo.com.Give me a price and if I can possibly afford it,I'll meet it.
My Apologies for the length of this post-or wrong place-or somehow offensive.---Also I claim age,for any grammar, punctuation errors (actually just lazy).
Thank You for your patience.

I completely agree with the Matt Fulling quote about bringing
these images to life. I can't forget feeling like I had
discovered a gold mime when I stumbled across his website.
Unbelievable work considering the now ancient software he used.
In fact it was in seeing and using his images
and learning he had stopped doing them himself that inspired me to
try to learn how to do it myself.
