I use a 5-man rotation set to "always start highest-rested. I have two closers (one assigned to the closer role and the other to 8th inning setup) plus 4 middle relievers that are converted starters (11 total). |

I agree with that completely. I figured it will still likely be rare for me to win any awards anyways, and the overall performance of my team is far more important than potentially getting a slight PP boost at the end of a season.

I use a converted starter as a 7th inning setup if one of them is hot. I usually start the season with all of them as MRs and wait until one of them stands out from the rest. I also find it interesting to see who the AI chooses to use in certain situations without giving it assignments.

I run 5 starting pitchers set to "always start highest rested" so my 5th SP only pitches about 60-70% of the starts of the top 4.
i have been running 5 RP in the pen for about 10 seasons on all three of my teams. Never had any issues. I always make sure to have 2 converted SP. in the pen and i have never had fatigue problems (except when you get an 18 inning game and there is nothing to do there except swap ppl out). Granted, all my pitchers are elite. Many seasons, the 5th RP is set to LH Specialist/Long Relief. And they don't pitch as often as the top 4. Granted all my pitchers are elite. However, i have noticed that the AI won't try to use what it thinks your worst RP is--i think the AI is not so smart so i dont want to give it a choice between 6....i remove one of the RP because I found the 6th RP just doesn't get used that much. if you are at perfect level and you have middle of the road starting pitching you may need more relievers...but unless the relievers are much better than the starters you are going to be having issues anyway. |

I guess the game changes significantly by the time you get to the "endgame," because my reality seems to be very different from the reality being discussed here.

Is 98 Special Edition Vida Blue worth the price tag? Genuinely curious. Thinking about splurging to make him my ace
EDIT: Or for that price (~180K) would you recommend a different SP? I know my rotation is LHP heavy, but I'm planning on moving Kershaw to the bullpen after I buy a new SP Last edited by Kumar; 08-29-2019 at 07:39 PM. |

what are your ballpark factors? i like hubbell 100 better than blue at that price range for a SP slot. blue i think plays better in the bullpen. |

Thanks in advance. |

yes go for one of the tippitty top SP like cy, wj, maddux 100 versions Your pen is fine. replace Kimbrel with either Ryan 100 or RJ 100 who can move to the pen after you get yr #1 SP. this is how i set your rotation, in order: WJ 100 or whoever you acquire Clemens 100 Gooden 100 Scherzer POTM RJ 100 or Ryan 100 Last edited by HiDesertAce; 08-31-2019 at 07:47 PM. |

Would you suggest packs or AH? i am bit away from enough PP for AH but could purchase.
I know there has been back and forth on the merits of Packs and AH in the past. Somehow i feel in my situation opening packs give me the opportunity to get my elite starter and possibly another asset or two. If I just go to auction i will absolutely guarantee to get my guy but will have to pay market value. Which means another purchase of PP and no additional assets... packs are gambling. can't really give you advice there other than to point out the house always wins. on one of my teams this week i gambled it up and won big. however, I was replacing a top 10 SP with a top 5 SP. so the gamble wouldn't really hurt too much if I lost. |

i think you only need 5 RP as long as at least 2 are converted RP. |
