Some players are very hard to find...Lansgton, Vlad by example, Pedro expos version too...rarely see one available.
I'm not an Expos collector, but I might become one eventually. There are multiple cards that I would love to add to my team. They do not come cheaply though...

Speaking of underrated Expos... Moises Alou is one of my favorite cards. He was my gold (82 OVR) in the Beta starter pack. He performed so well for me there that I just had to have him when I found him at a good price, even though my OF was strong and my team is still full of holes.

The only problem is that the card is his 1998 season, when he was an Astro. Hopefully this is not his only card in the game, but I've not encountered any alternatives yet.

Sadly it is I'll push hard to get him an Expos card either later this year, or at least for next year.

I have few spot on my roster...very tempted by the M.Alou one too. Maybe for DH but i use Andres Galarraga colorado version in this spot, I dont know if a Expos version exist for Andres.

I woke up to find that nobody outbid me, and he has been my starting 3B since

His power and defense have been great! Now, if I could just get him to start hitting for more avg than .150
Funny, I picked up Wallach during the beta and he couldn’t hit his weight, and OBP was consistently under .290, but led my team in HRs. I’m using Ryder Jones now and he’s been a pretty decent platoon for me at the bottom of the order. .280, .315 OBP but 10-15 HRs and he shows up on my “Hot” list more often than other players.

Could have been me. I remember an intense bidding war for that card.

Btw... My favorite rating on that Tim Wallach card?

Definitely the 107 positional defense rating as a Pitcher

Michael Feliz has been a solid bronze

He destroys righties. Too many BB/9 against lefties, but still not letting them score. He pitched well in Beta, too, but don't have those numbers.

Presently, a Dick Ellsworth card at 5k in the AH. This guy is a beast, throw like 3-4 Maddux per season. He give me a perfect game too and always in the 2.00-3.00 era range.

The original poster recommended Matty Alou, and I heartily agree with that recommendation. I saw several of them put up good numbers in the entry pool and now a pair of them are putting up respectable numbers in my current league.

I've gone with a different but similar card in center field: Mickey Rivers. He's rated 68, and he is excellent at four things: contact (71), gap (74), defense (75), and speed (85). By way of comparison, my Rivers card is currently batting .315/.324/.464 with a 1.018 defensive efficiency and +2.1 zone rating. The two Matty Alou cards in my league are batting .320/.339/.405 and .298/.322/.407. Their defensive efficiencies are 1.003 and .998, and their zone ratings are +1.0 and -4.0.

It's the good center field defense that I really like. If I just do a player search in my league and sort by center field defense, I see a bunch of all-glove no-bat players (Kevin Pillar, Byron Buxton, Billy Hamilton, etc.), and then I get to Mickey Rivers and A.J Polllock, both on 75, and they're the first ones with what I would consider to be good bats. (And Pollock, a gold card, costs far more than the bronze Rivers.)

I know there's at least one Rivers card on sale now for the low low price of 100 PP if you buy it now

And there's one Matty Alou in my league that's hitting .372. Was leading the league in BA but looks like he's a few AB short now.

Ty Blach (62) has been really good for me so far this season. He's listed as RP but use him as SP. He's 10-3 in 17 starts with a 2.21 ERA.

Dillon Maples (59, iirc) is a scrub pitcher who is seriously punching above his weight. ERA in the 2.00's in the entry league, around 3.00 in the bronze league. He's a bit of a crapshoot with his 17 Control, but he makes up for it with 117 Stuff and 65 Movement. He's gotten me some surprise pitching achievement points.

Edit: His ratings are clearly generated off his year at AAA this season where he had a K/9 of 17.5.

Double Edit: Nevemind. He was at 18.6 with the Cubs. Yeesh.

with 17 control, the catcher probably warns each batter not to dig in too much in the box, 'cause you never know when that 117 stuff is going to come at your head

still chugging along with my 57 rated relief pitcher (posted him in the 'all iron' thread)... his era was just above 2 last night, so we'll see how he fared this month when I check in later.

I'd tell him to hit the bull, but I don't think he has advance as far as Throw It In The Neighborhood 101.

Finally got one Wallach, I had to overpay a little for it at 1 099 pp. That was the only one I have seen since your post.

Earl Webb does nothing well except hit, but he does that pretty well for 250+/- PP. Has paid for himself many times over.

Oh, so you were the one who stole that one after I bid on it?

It's okay, though. With my points from my all-stars, used that money to buy card packs, and drew a Sale card. Now got the tough call of trying to sell him for a nice return, or throwing him into my rotation and enjoying a top card.

I have him in my bullpen. Too many RH specialist hitter teams in my league trying to deal with the left handed specialist hitter parks. He had a hard time keeping his ERA under 5.
