C: Omar Narvaez always seems to hit well against RHP for me. A platoon of him and Salvator Perez AS 2017 is a good combo.
1B/LF: Steve Pearce is GREAT vs LHP. I mean, he destroys them. SS: Maury Wills is a speedster and makes good contact and doesn't strike out much. OF: The aforementioned Suzuki/Wilson/Waner are really good. RP: Jordan Hicks is hot and cold but with a good IF defense behind him he can be really good. |

My Wockenfuss unsung hero did fairly decently as a bronze Catcher. His offensive ratings aren't much different from Grandal, and yeah, his defense isn't great, but from a 63, you can't expect everything from a Catcher. Also rated at 1B and LF if you want to save backups at other spots.
And as a reliever, Matt Grace (67 OA) did pretty solid for me in the bullpen in the entry pool. Not a high-stuff guy, but it is to find a guy who's got both movement and control at 65+. Plus it's nice to have a guy who's at least green in all 3 of his important numbers. |

I am running SS Travis Jackson (63) at 2B. Great Defense (as long as you don't mind ignoring the errors) and sneaky good power. I am actively looking for an upgrade, but he may hang around on my bench for a bit, so training him up on a second position isn't such a bad thing.
Some additional relievers that, in my opinion, can outperform their overall rating: Aaron Loup (63), Trevor Cahill (61), Adrian Houser (54), and my personal favorite, Bobby Poyner (52, Lefty, 78/33/71 with a 63 Fastball, an 80 Slider and a 96 Changeup) |

My one hit wonder Joe Christopher won the batting title in my entry league with a .351 average.

Can get one or two runs from Jose Berrios, but it's hard to destory him. He might be deserved a little bit higher than 68, 72 or 73 it's fair, I guess.

The following players are unusually good at something for their rating:
Kyle Schwarber is a bronze, but *by far* the best hitting Catcher vR Wilmer Flores is an Iron (I think) but plays infield positions and is great vL Jurickson Profar has nice vR splits for a utility bronze and can play every position Ryan Zimmerman is a weird 69, because he can't really hit vR. But he's perhaps the best vL bronze in the game. Nick Ahmed is a solid vL utility player |

Kind of strange that he's an outfielder in PT, too. He was best known as a second baseman. |

I've got a huge list of these guys, but the one I'll mention here is 2016 Mookie Betts. I love that I got him for a 3200 buy now, 10-20x less than the 2018 version. He's not nearly as good, but he's still Mookie and does Mookie things.
I've yet to see another on the auction house. |

My One Hit Wonder Bobby Crosby card (77 OVR) has outperformed every hitter I have other than Betts/Trout in terms of WAR. He's ahead of Altuve, Rizzo, Justin Turner, Arenado, etc. When I drew the Altuve card I had to decide between dropping Correa, Trea Turner, or Crosby. I ended up dropping Correa. Crosby is like a 97 defender at SS.

Ichiro Suzuki is a bronze that is better than a lot of gold cards.
80 contact, 95 defense in RF, 85 speed/stealing. I think there was better bronze version of him as well that I had in beta... Talk about value. |

I think his 2001 rookie card is the one you list. The 2004 record breaker is a bit better offensively (86 contact), but drops a little in speed and D (64 speed/80 stealing, and "only" an 87 on D). Still a 69 overall, but a nice card for sure.

I've noticed that a lot of SP with poor stamina (sub 65) have inflated OVR ratings.
You're likely only getting 5 innings with these guys and exhausting your bullpen every game. You're better off getting some bronze and silver starters like Aaron Sanchez with decent Control and Movement and stick the high OVR guys in the bullpen.

That's going to get you to the 6th inning most games. When it doesn't the long relievers will have enough stamina to be able to take over consistently for 2 to 3 innings. That also lets you keep the rest of your pen stocked with guys that have bonkers ratings and <20 stam. They won't be asked to do too much with guys that are be willing to eat up 100+ IP in relief. The rest of your pen will still be there for the higher leverage situations that they're meant for. |

I'll have to put in a plug for Luis Aparicio. He earned more in achievements in the entry pool than he cost, hit well, runs well, and is strong defensively, plus very trainable at all infield positions.

if for nothing else, a great cheap 4th OF. will hit for high average, decent speed, and has solid defensive ratings at all 3 spots |
