I was actually surprised by how few super teams there were in my league

All of the other 4 teams in my division are stacked. I see a 120 loss season coming for me with my starting pitchers ending up with a 7+ ERA.

I've started to collect anyone who played on the Expos, although it's a little bit more about the collection than actually playing them. I do have Dennis Martinez and Langston in my rotation right now (and Tony Perez in my lineup), but likely will be upgrading on Dennis when I get enough cash to buy a starter I like more. Although I'm sure it will take me a while to build up for both Pedro and Johnson.

Looking at my division, it doesn't look like any really stacked teams. I spent $10 on PP, bought on gold pack and 5 standard packs (getting me nothing good, really), and other than that have just been spending some time on the AH trying to find good deals on silver upgrades until I have a team that can reliably get me more PP.

I didn't get into the beta until the last week, so this is my first real season on PT, we shall see how it goes.

Anyhow, here's my team to start the season. My bench is basically Jean Segura and a bunch of guys I don't want getting in to too many games.

We really need a schedule file where everybody gets to play Day 1. That extra 30 minutes of waiting is a killer.

Won my first game 9-8. First batter of the season (Dustin Pedroia) hit a home run. My offense is gonna have to score 10 to win every time with how bad the pitching is.

My team won 125 games in the entry pool. I'm not seeing anything in my division that looks particularly scary.

Spending $30 on points during the Beta seems to have paid off. guess I'll start thinking about playoff rotations : )

Looks like I will come fourth in a division with an all-gold team, two pretty good ones, and one that doesn't seem to have been cuddled with much since opening the starter packs. I really haven't been able to improve much since getting four gold by Thursday, and the Raccoons even sagged under .500 late on Sunday.

I can only check at home. But if any of you see the following teams in your division, rest assured that you'll probably be finishing ahead of them:

Willsboro Warriors

Oban Kilt Lifters

Lowell Muck Rakers

Popped a few quid after all to see whether there was anything good in the cards today.

Worth it.

Also got a J.T. Realmuto with a different pack. And while him and Green are probably soft Gold cards, they were a tremendous upgrade over the revolving door of Bronze cards I had behind the dish and in the constantly ablaze pen.

Did some basic comparisons based on the card values. I think I'm in for an interesting division.

should be at least 3 very competitive teams. #4 may not have done anything since opening packs. and #5 apparently didn't like his gold card or may be doing a theme team

might be going for a 'bronze or lower' team (still needs to sell that silver in that case)

Are you guaranteed a gold card from the opening packs? Huh, didn't even realise.

Could be a good league overall. One absolutely stacked team in another division that I've already lost a series 2-1 to but most teams look like what I posted before.

As expected, started out 1-8. My hitters will not hit at all and there really is nowhere to go but up. I'm about to replace Furcal though because his defense isn't good enough to put up with bad hitting.

The thing is, I don't think my team is that bad at all. I even drew a diamond Judge. I'm just playing with all 4 other teams in my division that have mostly diamonds to go with some perfects and golds.

Yikes. I wouldn't want Justin Smoak leading off too often

you got some good solid hitters there, IMO. sometimes the small sample size makes it look like they are poor, but Brantley, Ichiro, Votto, Bryant, Judge, that's a solid group to start with

Yeah, thanks. Of course, it doesn't help that my lineup has to face all diamond pitchers and relievers. /sigh

Oh well, there's always next week.

I started with a bunch of PP from spending in Beta, put together a ridiculous team (thematically named the Oxford Blues), and promptly got bored. Decided to start fresh with a new account and no PP purchases. It has been a BLAST. I'm sure I'll check back on my whale-of-a-team from time to time, but the vast majority of my time is now spent on the no-money roster of my LOLCats. Lesson learned.

Bought a pack with my extra 1000 PP, got a Gold reliever. Sold that guy, sold the other gold reliever I got from the starter packs, sold other guys I didn't like, bought three packs and pulled a Mookie Betts. That certainly helps the interest level.

At this point I'm putting all earned PP into the auction house; the packs just don't make any sense to me at this point unless (1) you enjoy the experience, or (2) you're hunting for one of the "good" historical 100s or high-90s cards. Since I won't be doing either of those with this team for years, it's auctions all the way. I got really excited when I won a nice Bronze.

Hopefully some of the other whales gives this a try. So much fun!

Edit: Because I didn't make this second team until the night before the start of the season, I ended up in a 22-team league!!! AC has three four-team divisions, my NC has two five-team divisions. Pretty wild.

that's the greatest thing about this system, IMO. your agony only lasts 1 week and then you should be paired against similar teams next week
