Redrafting 1974: The Kansas City Scouts
Redrafting 1974: The Kansas City Scouts:
Found this article on Puck Theory https://pucktheory.com/2018/12/30/re...s-city-scouts/ & I thought to myself this is a great idea & I know the game that can make it happen FHM5. IRL the Scout was a bad team. Period. With the WHA looking at Washington & KC area for expansion, the NHL move fast & put the Caps in Washington & Scouts in KC. The talent pool for the expansion draft was not great, is an understatement. He is the real Kansas City expansion draft list. As u can see from the list no superstar caliber player(s). Here is the Redrafting 1974: The Kansas City Scouts list from FHM5. After the expansion draft was completed it was time for the Amateur draft, IRL Kansas City had 13 draft picks & FHM 5 we had 5 picks (not sure why 8 picks were missing). 1st here is the 1974-75 Kansas City NHL Draft list. Here is FHM5 draft list: As u can see yes we also drafted Paiement but we also got Tiger Williams, I think KC Scouts did better in the draft in FHM5. Last edited by Rayzor; 01-13-2019 at 09:25 AM. |

Kansas City Scout started the 1974-75 NHL season with 8 straight road games (Kemper Area was not ready for NHL hockey at the being of the 1974-75 season), the first month of life in the NHL saw them go 0-7-1 (4-4 tie with Golden Seals). The other expansion team the Washington Capitals got there 1st win in there 4th game (1-8-1), so after the 1st month of play, Kansas City was the worst team in the 1974-75 NHL. The Scouts finished the 1974-75 season with a recorded of 15-54-11 being the 2nd worst team in the NHL with Washington being the worst. The leading scorer for the 1974-75 Scouts was Nolet with 58 points & tied in team goals with rookie Paiement each with 26 goals. G Peter McDuffe had 7 wins to lead Goaltender side. With redrafting the Scouts team in FHM5 hoping to have better results. Last edited by Rayzor; 01-13-2019 at 09:26 AM. |

1974-75 NHL - October
At the being of there 1st season Scout sent a 6th round pick to get Hardy Åström (Don Cherry's favorite goalie) Scouts in pre-season were 2-5-0, the start of the regular season was a 7-3 loss to the Maple Leafs then 3 nights later they won there 1st game against the Islander 6-4. After 1 month of play, the Scouts are 1-6-1 (IRL they were 0-7-1) last in the Smythe Division. The Washington Capitals are the surprise of the 1974-75 NHL with a record of 4-3-3 leading the Norris Divison Going by Save Pct. Last edited by Rayzor; 01-12-2019 at 06:45 AM. |

We are at Jan. 1 1975 the Scouts are the laughing stock of the NHL we are 4-26-5, to compare with the real KC Scouts they were 5-26-4, so FHM5 is pretty close to RL.

January 1975
Saw the Scouts come out the gate & win 6 straight games & ending the month 8-4-1...Scouts are now 12-30-6. G - Gary Simmons was named the player of the month for January with 8-4-1- 2SO - 2.70 - 91.6% We are now 3 wins away from RL Scouts record February 1975 After the hot start in January, hopes were hot that it would carry over to February, but that would not happen the team went 4-9-1, with a record of 16-39-7 & 9 points out of a playoff spot. March 1975 March 4 - Scouts trade Phil Roberto 1.5 (53-5-8-13-63) to Detroit for RW Helmut Balderis 3.0 (58-6-5-11-8) March 10 - Scouts trade 39 yr old Noel Price 1.0 (12-2-0-2-10) for 18 yr old Reed Larson 2.5 (67-4-20-24-51) Scouts went winless in March 0-12-2 with a record 16-51-11 - still 1 win better than the real Scouts Last edited by Rayzor; 01-13-2019 at 08:01 AM. |
