PBP in 3-D
PBP in 3-D mode had to be done with short PBP or else the timing was way off. As someone who preferred the full detail has PBP in 3-D mode been improved?

I second this 100%, it was a deal breaker in 18 for me personally with 3D

Just a suggestion that may or may not be what you're looking for. You can use full detail and adjust the speed to smooth the timing.
On the pre-game screen set the following PbP detail=full PbP speed=custom delay mode=per line delay millisec=280 This is what I use and it works pretty well. You can change the delay millisec to speed it up or slow it down. |

I would like to just add that I hope the development team is continuing to build upon the already excellent Play-by-play. Sometimes, very often, in fact, I like to play in Webcast or Broadcast mode, where I rely on the PBP to create the action on the field in my head. No matter how great the graphics get, I don't see this changing. For many of us who started with board games, this will always be part of the magic of this hobby. A good PBP adds to our immersion and colors our mind's eye and I hope it continues to grow and get better. Thanks.

One thing I will say about OOTP Play-by-play - it's really good, but I wish they would incorporate more of a dynamic PBP system, similar to what Strat-o-matic Computer baseball does with with it's play-by-play. It adapts to the team and season and it actually uses the team's real life announcers. It gives the scores, updates the pennant races, sprinkles in anecdotes. It just has a little more character than OOTP play-by-play
It's the ONLY thing that SOM Computer Baseball has over OOTP. |
