Dugout Wizards - Transitioning to OOTP 16, Has Openings

The Dugout Wizards league, which began in 1979 is switching over to OOTP 16 for the 1983 season (we just wrapped up the 1982 season with the Expos defeating the Rangers in the World Series).

Dugout Wizards features full minor leagues with real minor leaguers and players coming into the league via the draft in the year in which they actually turned pro (so the 1983 draft class will include such players as Roger Clemens, Doug Drabek, Ron Gant & Terry Steinbach) and the draft takes place in June so you can stock your short season & rookie league teams right out of the draft.

Having just wrapped up 1982, none of the offseason activities have taken place yet, so you will be able to shape your roster via arbitration offers, free agency and the Rule 5 draft before we hit spring training.

With the switch to OOTP 16 we have seven openings:
Montreal Expos (WS champs)
Texas Rangers (AL champs)
Chicago Cubs
Cincinnati Reds
Milwaukee Brewers
Philadelphia Phillies
San Diego Padres

You can view the league's HTML reports here

The original thread for the league here on the boards is here and the league website is Sim Sport Leagues

If you have questions or would like to sign up you can contact me here or on the SimSportLeagues site by using the Info link in the main menu.

Thanks!
Joe

This is a good well run league as I have had the Seattle M's since the start. Slowly working our way up the ladder to 86 wins in 1982 even with George Argyros as our owner. Some very good and popular teams are available (see above) with the switch to the new OTTP16 format.

If I wasn't running my hometown team I would be going after the Cubs or Reds trying to break the curse in one scenario and rebuilding the machine in the other.

Welcome aboard
Doug

This is a fantastic league and Joe is an awesome Commissioner. I am in just about all of his leagues across baseball, hockey, and basketball.

Dugout Wizards is a well-run, realistic league. I have the Mets since the league's inception in 1979 and though I let Joe Torre walk as a manager, my team has consistently flirted with the .500 mark, which is a miracle considering the real-life Mets of those days.

The league is very competitive and if you stress game play over trash talk, this is definitely the league for you. The sim schedule is Monday through Friday, so a regular season takes 5-6 weeks and a full year in game time takes about 3 months.

If you have the time, I highly recommend taking a team and joining us.

Sounds good, I would be interested in taking over the Padres or Reds.

This is a very solid league. It is neat to see the players come in the actual year they were drafted and have to develop before hitting the bigs. It makes for a more realistic feel.

Reds, Expos and Cubs have been claimed.

Brewers, Rangers (AL Champs), Padres & Phillies (a very good team) remain available.

The Royals just came open if anyone is interested. They have both George Brett and Mike Schmidt - quite the one-two punch of corner infielders.

Reds are currently the only available team if anyone is still interested in getting on board.
