Retained salary

I haven't been following this game much since the first two versions but with a fifth iteration that brings some new features and the return of online play, I am now waiting to see the reviews and judge for myself whether I will give this franchise a try.

One thing that irritated me with the main competitor is the incapability to keep up with the rules changes.

Are retained salaries part of this game ? Were they present in #4 ? If so, was the AI able to take them into account well ?

It wasn't in FHM 4 and i highly doubt it's in FHM 5. It's something that should be in the game though.

Existing retained salary in trades is accounted for in the starting financial data, but it's not possible to retain salary in in-game trades.

The reason being that it must be difficult to get the AI to account for the modified salaries in a trade decision ?

Wished the retained salaries could be there with some pre-set ''influential value'' for every bracket of 100K or something. And then having it be more influential on teams depending on where they stand with their salary cap. Trading being a major part of a sim sport game, it would be nice to have it follow the actual real life rules. It would also give much more flexibility/options in the kind of trades one could perform.

Is it possible to force trade and edit these financial datas after a game has been started (saved game) ? Kind of like performing a manual Retained salary trade ?

How about other rules like waivers exemption calculation, entry-level contract w/ slide option, 35+ contracts, LTIR cap relief, buyouts, buried contracts, etc, etc.

Not having retained salaries in trades for a hockey management sim seems like a pretty large omission.
