Injuries my foot!

"The New York Highlanders will be without the services of Frank Delahanty for awhile. He suffered a torn ankle ligaments (ugh) recently. He reportedly injured it while slipping on an oil slick. The New York left fielder will be on the shelf for at least 16-17 months."

He must have been liquored up.

One other thing on injuries. I had this same type of injury happen to a AA catcher yesterday... it came up as a 16-17 month injury... but then when I looked on his player screen it said it was career ending.

So you might want to check that as well... I dont think they game properly conveys career ending.

I just got another email saying that Ed Walsh will be out 3-4 months because HIS kid ran into him on a bicycle. Sheesh!

Maybe he is related to the so called "liquored up Kicker" from the Indianapolis Colts, or should say he used to play for the Colts..Im referring to a comment Peyton Manning made about Vanderjagt when he played for the colts, it was classic, I don't have the exact quote..but something to the affect he called him a "liquored up Kicker"

Yeah someone mentioned that he was liquored up, I just can't remember who.

Anyway, nice to see some variety in injuries.

For my historical i set the injuries to very low, and turn off trades, free agency, and arby. I want my first 40-50 years; started in 1901, to be as close to real life as possible. Something in me has to have it that way.

These off-field injuries are great. Here's one from my first little trial league:

Quote:
A. Mercado was injured when he fell down the stairs while sleepwalking. The Diagnosis: bruised neck. This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 5 days.

I usually wait a few years to turn injuries on when starting in 1901. Not enough roster replacements.

How about this one:

"The Baltimore Orioles will be without the service of Tippy Martinez for awhile. He dislocated his shoulder recently. He reportedly injured it in a train accident."

He's out for two months. Train accident. I'm going to have to put "No being a train conductor in the offseason" clauses in all future contracts.

How about this...

Fictional league.

Rupert Hawk has an accident. The Dallas Railcats will be without the services of Rupert Hawk for about a week. He was bit by a coyote.

No, I kid you not!
