Live Start Ratings Question
Hello All,
Maybe I'm not familiar with how player ratings should be when you select the Live Start option but I've noticed that there are plenty of players who are rated too poorly, at least in my opinion. For example, I'm a White Sox fan so I started a new Live Start game with the Sox with the hope that the players on their roster would be adjusted to better reflect their current, in real life performances but was disappointed in what I saw. For example, Tim Anderson, who is an all star candidate and having himself a great year so far (.323/.355/.498) with an OPS+ of 128 but he received no ratings boost (if he did it was minuscule and I couldn't notice). Similar story with Giolito, he's 8-1 with a 2.54 ERA and a WAR of 2.3 in the first week of June and I see no ratings boost for him. There are plenty others, not just on the Sox but on pretty much every team but you get the idea. I just wanted some more information on how ratings in Live Start games are supposed to work and if they're meant to reflect current players' performances or if it doesn't affect player ratings. I remember when the game first launched, player ratings were pretty wack (players who had multi home run games on Opening Day were given a SUBSTANTIAL power rating boost) but I'm not seeing that anymore so I'm not sure how the Live Start option has been tweaked since the first version of the game. |

I think there is an option to change or not change ratings during a Live start. Are you sure that you selected to correct option?

Yeah, there was a bug in the first couple versions where their stats were getting merged in almost 100%, so a guy hitting a HR in 1 game was merged in as if they were a 162-HR hitter for the season.
The stats are merged right now in much the same way as they are done in Perfect Team (not exactly the same, but close). The easiest way to think of things are that right now we're about 1/3 of the way into the season, so players are rated roughly 1/3 based on their season stats and 2/3 based on their initial ratings projections. So it should still have an effect, but it may not be as huge as you think. |
