Tomato_Cans_160_Templates
The 160 Tomato Can Templates are ready to go. I will send them to Mark (Gunsmoke) at Corner Work later today. I guess the zip file will be available tomorrow (August 25). Edit: Thanks to Mark, the pack is now available at CW and the intro is pretty funny
So, go there... http://www.cornerwork.com/modules.php?name=Downloads ... it is in *Fictional Fighters*. The zip's name is: Tomato_Cans_160_Templates Download it then unzip it. The 160 templates are stored in a folder called * 0_Tomato_Cans *. In other words, you don't need to create a folder by yourself; Unzipping Tomato_Cans_160_Templates will automatically create the folder * 0_Tomato_Cans * into the directory where you're working from. Now, before importing the 160 templates, launch TBCB and create a group called... Tomato_Cans (Exactly like that, Upper/lower cases and don't forget the sign _ between the two words) Then import the templates from the folder 0_Tomato_Cans. They will automatically appear in the group Tomato_Cans. Goto post number 2... Pierre Last edited by Montreal; 08-25-2004 at 03:45 AM. |

Basic Info
--- EXPECTED WINNING PERCENTAGE
The current pack gives you the opportunity to create 160 different tomato cans with minimal editing work. In fact, you don't need to touch the ratings at all. Each of the 160 templates have been tested in 1600 bouts against the 320 1-Rated fighters in the default database. That's actually how I came up with an expected winning percentage for each and every of my templates. The expected winning percentage ranges from 2% to 19.99%. The global average for all tomato cans in the pack is around 10% (more likely 8%, in fact). --- THE NAME IS THE EXPECTED WINNING PERCENTAGE All templates' first name is TC (for Tomato Can); Each family name is in fact the expected winning percentage. For instance, 03-69 means that this fighter will win approximatively 3.69% of his bouts against 1-Rated fighters like those in the default database. 12-24 means that the expected winning percentage is around 12.24%. And so on. --- SOME SIMPLE ADDITIONAL CODING Now, there's occasionally some additional coding. For instance... 02-56-S means that you're dealing with a Slugger (winning around 2.56% of his fights); 11-48-E means that you're dealing with a guy using Either style (winning 11.48%); 15-33-SL means that the guy is a Lefty Slugger (winning 15.33%); 17-22-L means that the guy is a Lefty Boxer (winning 17.22%). When you see only numbers (say, 09-49), the fighter is automatcally a Right Handed Boxer. Goto post number 3... Pierre |

What to do
1-- Don't forget to create a goup called:
************ Tomato_Cans ************** 2-- Import the 160 templates. They will automatically go in... Tomato_Cans 3-- Edit then save each new created fighter (more on this below) 4-- Export all your 160 new tomato cans in a clean folder 5-- Zip and name your folder (more below) 6-- Send your zip to Gunsmoke at CornerWork... Gunsmoke@cornerwork --- EDITING EACH TEMPLATE (Point 3) Go to the fighter screen, then... First Name: Delete TC and... Your choice Last Name: Delete the winning percentage and... Your choice (Pay attention to the Nationality) Nickname: If possible, give one to some of your cans The next three are already set: Group: Tomato_Cans (mandatory!) Sex: Male Era: Retired Division: All templates are listed as HW. So, if you're working on creating 160 Light Weight tomato cans, you will have to make the change here for all your 160 fighters. Southpaw: Ideally, let it at what it is. Any change will modify the expected winning percentage Nationality: Your choice Don't touch anything else. Save your new fighter. In fact, all you have to work on is: First and Last Names, Division and Nationality -- and eventually giving a Nickname here and there to some of your cans. --- NAMING YOUR ZIP (Point 5) Please name you zip following this format: TC_YourNick_Division_number As for my own packs, it would be: TC_Jungle_HW_1 Which means: Tomato Cans made by Jungle Gym, Heavies, 1st series (of HW, of course). If I create another pack of HWs, I will name it... TC_Jungle_HW_2 Now, if I create a first set of MWs, I will go with this... TC_Jungle_MW_1 And so on for any other division/series. Then, send your zip to Gunsmoke at CornerWork... Gunsmoke@cornerwork If you need help or assistance, simply comme back here. Pierre |

Sharing the work
One last note... I think it would be a good thing you let us know (here) you're working on creating a pack. The division you're working on is especially important since it would be recommended that we try not to work on the same division as you. As for me, I will firstly work on the Middle Weight division. I don't know when it will be ready, but maybe you might want to pick another division for now. That way, chances are that we could have more quickly a complete 160-pack from each of the eight basic divisions.

Hello Pierre...
I was thinking more about making the tomato cans related to nationalities than divisions, trying to make the proportion between divisions relatively balanced wiht the power of each nation on every division. Anyway, I can work with the division-scheme as well, and if everybody -not sure how much people is that everybody- will be doing so, I will do it that way as well. Thanks |

Well, do them exactly as you like, Catalion. Simply call your zip TC_YourNick_Nationality when you're done with one pack...

Scot... Clara, my dear secretary at the Jungle_Gym, just told me that she loves LHWs. I really don't know why. Anyway, do a bunch of Bantam - lol

Problems
Having some problems as I started working in a second pack...as I import the templates, they are written on the fictional pack I had created -the lightweight european- then, losing them...It says there is a fighter with the same ID.
Don't know at the moment how to solve it, but will work a bit on it |

Easy to solve... Answer YES to the first question (allowing to import the file) but answer NO the the second one so the initial file won't be overwitten by the new one -- a new record will be created. Then answer YES to the third question...

Quick question
Can you take some of the lightweight TCs and just change them to other weight classes to get a few in each class. Will their results be significantly different?
As an aside, we now know what Mr. Dale's initials stand for.
