Dominic McCaffrey

Here he is again, hope this time it works.

Also pls note a lot of the fighters have different career stages set that you may wish to set back to prime.

Dean;
Still a no-go on McCaffrey. When I try to bring him in with the export it gives me the fatal error and shuts down TBCB. There may be an invisible character in the typing somewhere in the actual fighter file, becuase there was no trouble with the others.

Whenever the game is being stubborn and shuts down consistently, and even a fresh boot won't help, try fighting a fight. It was doing the same thing to me, and I tried stopping what I was doing with the game and just fighting a fight, and it worked great after. I don't know why this happens but try it.

I added these fighters to CornerWork.com....

One note about my site and some of the old fighters: The ratings I created for bkbworld.com I feel now, looking back, are overblown. With the changes in TBCB and some of the radical changes to ratings (Jake Kilrain, Slavin, for example), I toned down a lot of ratings. Plus, I've gotten a lot better at tweaking ratings now. So please keep that in mind if anyone is looking at my original ratings for a starting point...

Anyway, I really like this thread because it is a thread after my own heart! This is my favorite time period....

I tried running a fight, but the import after the fight once again gave a fatal error and crashed the program.
Could it be an O/S issue? I'm running standard Windows XP.

Any other ideas?

Question ?????

Beatnik;
It still won't let me have McCaffrey of Dean's or one of Rasmuth's. It's weird. They unzip fine, but some import to the database and some won't. I'm running W98.

Rasmuth;
It was Essett. I tried the shutdown/restart suggestion, the do a bout suggestion and the redownload and throw away the previous version with McCaffrey, but none of it works. David has directly e-mailed me a couple of the files in .tbdx form (not zipped), and they come right in. Not sure what, if any, difference there might be. If you want to try that, e-mail it to me at vistaman@mc2k.com
I haven't tried to pick yours or Dean's up from JR at CornerWork, yet, but I did download the Tom Allen and Joe Coburn the other day, and they imported OK. Curiouser and curiouser ...
Thanks for posting, guys.

Mark,
all very puzzling as their seems to no logic to it. I have also had trouble picking up my own fighters from different databases.

Do you want me to post McCaffrey here in written form or have you managed to pick him up form elsewhere? let me know.

you know...I'm not even sure we need to Zip these files...they are very small...maybe we should just attatch them as is and see how that works.

Dean;
I haven't been able to get him. I know you're busy with a lot of projects, but if you export him to .xml, copy and paste the text, it'll save some time.

Rasmuth;
I tried that, but it won't accept that extension as an attachment on this board. I have posted a suggestion in the tech section for Andreas.

If a tbdx file doesn't work and TB crashes, please send it to me, I can debug it to find the problem!

Thanks in advance,
Andreas

Ruh Roh!

This is troublesome....
As the .tbdx file of Dominic McCaffrey couldn't be successfully downloaded by me, I decided to enter him manually.
I then set him against a no-name, to see how he worked out. The game crashed, citing the same fatal error as the one cited when I tried to import the file.
I tried again, with the same result.
I rebooted, then thought of the advice to run a different fight. I set up Ali-Louis and... TB crashed. Fatal error.
"That's odd," I thought to myself, "I'd just run that match last night, and TB worked just fine.
I tried again, this time using Ali-Dempsey. Crash. I tried to just sim a match. Crash. I re-installed the patch, hoping that might correct any damage to the files. New match-crash. It seems TB now can't run any matches without crashing.

Do you think maybe Dominic McCaffrey is a gremlin?

On a more serious note, any suggestions for repairing the situation? I don't recall the details of the e-licensing when I bought TB; am I correct that it would be possible for me to uninstall, then redownload and install the game, and then patch it to bring it up to date? Or do I need to go through some other procedure to fix things?

That license you have will stay on your computer unless of course you go to the control panel and un-license it yourself.
So you can uninstall Title Bout and reinstall it as many times as you like and yes it will work if you have not saved the original download and have to download the game again.

Now if you was getting rid of your computer or even doing a full format on your hard drive then yes you would have to un-license your game.
But in your case just to take the game off and put it on again no problems at all.

Wildhawke- Thanks!

I've now uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, (tried a fight and hit the fatal error), uninstalled it again, this time manually deleting the databases, reinstalled it, and had it crash yet again.
I think maybe it's time for me to worry a little. :/
