Green/Red Promotion Arrows
Does anybody have an opinion on whether these are truly a good indicator of when you should promote/demote a player? I'm wondering if they are based on a player being "hot/cold" rather than they are ready for the next league up. Thoughts?

I judge all my prospects myself. Forget those arrows

The arrows draw my attention to certain players. From there I make an assessment. I use them as a guide, not the gospel.

I use them as advise when I set up my minor league teams to start a season. I micro manage my minors all the way down to the DSL. so it takes me a bit to get everything exactly the way I want. the arrows become helpful in the initial setup and then I make my first eval of how its all working about June 1st. Then I look again at the All-Star break

I use the arrows as an indication of who to cut first. I don't typically demote players but when a player has a red arrow, i evaluate him first for release. I'd say it's about 50/50 on if I agree with the arrows

So do you simply look at statistics to evaluate?

I do tend to look more at stats than ratings, but it's more of a blend. Take a look at the guide in my sig for more detail

Not even close to the truth... Put a guy from AAA down in rookie ball and the stats will not tell the truth

I don't really get this. What do you mean? Put a AAA guy in Rookie and he will prove he's better that rookie

Ha! I never really knew what the arrows meant. I always just assumed they meant hot/cold streaks.

Take a crap AAA player put him in a rookie league and his stats will look amazing. So stats can lie. Bc he's in fact not going to be nearly as good as his stats

This thread is talking about promotion arrows. stats were mentioned as a better way to determine if a guy should get promoted. put a AAA guy in R and his stats will say to promote him.

Chill out Skippy... I was just commenting on the guy that said stats don't lie. Stats can be manipulated in real life and OOTP rather easily. So if you don't like my comment, move on Lil doggy

Chill out? I'm not sure why you took my comments as anything but chill. I'm literally just sitting here, sipping on some tea, being completely non-confrontational. However, in the context of what we're talking about in this thread, they don't lie. take your AAA player in rookie. his stats won't lie, just like Shakira's hips

your super star rookie leaguer's stats simply means that he needs to be moved up a level. keep moving him up a level until he's no longer dominating. His stats at each level will tell you one of 3 things. He's overwhelmed, under-challenged, or right where he needs to be. That's an example of stats not lying
