this is a triple?

Tie game, bottom of the twelfth.
Runner on second.
The batter hits the ball over the center fielder's head and it bounces off the wall.
The runner scores easily (which wins the game)......but the batter keeps running, going for a triple....the center fielder picks up the ball and tries to get him out at third base. He's safe.

Somehow the batter is credited in the boxscore with a game winning triple - instead of a single. Not sure why batter would keep trying to advance once the game was over/decided.

Anyone else experience a play like this?

Yes. Not sure if it has been fixed in the new version but walk off hits have always been like this as long as I can remember. In real life that would be a single.
