NHL Re-sim
This will be a Sim of the entire history of the entire NHL, season by season, with a few key differences.
Most Notable: - The NHL entry draft starts in 1917. - The Second world war will not take place, therefor many players will not leave to fight, as well as no Iron curtain (Russians can come to North America before 1980’s) - Rosters will start using 1930’s regulations due to engine limits. - Penalties will also be more modern (due to engine limits) - Assists and secondary assists will be tracked from the start, as well as offensive passing. 1917-1918 League news: The NHL was formed for it’s first season, consisting of four teams. (Toronto Arenas, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Wanderers, Montreal Canadiens) Regular Season: The first goal in NHL history was scored by Cy Denneny (OTT) on December 19th in a 5-3 loss to MTL. While Montreal's Joe Malone would score the NHL's first hattrick that same game. highlights; Harry Meeking would score 6 goals against the Montreal Wanderers on January 5th. A game the Arenas would win 8-1 Newsy Lalonde would score 8 points (5G+3A) on January 9th, helping the Canadians beat Toronto 9-8 Joe Malone would score 4 hattricks (league highest), including 3 in the first four games. Hap Holmes would be the only goalie to record a shutout this season, and he would get two, Blanking both Montreal teams Bert Lindsay (MTW) would set a high saves record with 48 saves on 57 shots against the Montreal Canadians, but still lose the game. streaks: Cy Denneny (OTT) would score 8 games in a row. Frank Nighbor would get an assist for 8 games in a row, recording 21 points in that time. Punch Broadbent would pick up points in 16 straight, totaling 34 points. Cy Denneny would also end the season on a 16 game point streak,recording 47 points during it. The last notable streak was Harry Meeking scoring 7 games in a row, including his six goal game. Final Standings Top Players Top Goalies NHL Championship Toronto would play against Ottawa, being ranked 1 & 2 respectively, and splitting their regular season series. Toronto Arenas vs. Ottawa Senators Feb 25th Ottawa Senators (A) 5-2 Toronto Arenas (H) Feb 26th Toronto Arenas (A) 5-4 Ottawa Senators (H) Ottawa wins the series 9-7 on total goals scored. Punch Broadbent with 6 points. Jack Adams and Eddie Lowrey both record 4 points. Stanley cup The Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Millionaires would Challenge for the Stanley cup, playing a best of 5 series against each other. the series would be played with NHL rules April 3 Vancouver Millionaires (A) 4-3 Ottawa Senators (H) April 5 Vancouver Millionaires (A) 4-1 Ottawa Senators (H) April 7 Ottawa Senators (A) 1-6 Vancouver Millionaires (A) Vancouver wins the series 3-0.
