Haven't been here in a while, several years in fact. Not even sure where to put this - er - announcement? Thought this might be the best place.

19 years ago I started a dynasty thread on the old forums. Had to set it aside as life crept in and work assignments prevented me from writing regularly. It was on the ITP forums, if anyone still remembers that there used to be one of those. Does anyone even remember that game?

Anyway, that's where it was and thank God when I searched for my old story it was still there, still hidden like it was in the beginning, still silently waiting for me to return. Well...

Finally, after getting three kids through high school and two through college, after getting to a point at work where I can dictate my own future, I finally, finally, finally, have time to write again.

So, Dave Driscoll is back. If anyone is still interested, the next four chapters are in the ITP Dynasty forums. More to come.

Found this a few days ago, and started reading from the beginning. Excellent writing and good plotline, and character development.

I always compare Fictional League/Player(The only way I play the game) to Mark Harris' Henry Wiggen books....This one compares very favorably to them.

Thanks for the compliment, Breck. I should mention for all those who are new to the dynasty, all the on-field results and front office moves were generated by ITP, including trades, contract offers, and injuries. The stats you read are taken right from the game, and rarely did I take liberties with them. It was my job to weave a story that made sense of them all. Hopefully, you are enjoying it.

Also, Chapter 64 is up. The 2015 season concludes, Dave ponders free agency, and takes a hard look back at his career in Chicago.

Thanks to everyone who is returning to this long-ass labor of love, and thanks to those who are new to Short Hop and have stuck with a very long bit of storytelling.

Now that I have a little more time on my hands and I have instituted family reading time, I have started re-reading your dynasty from the beginning. It has been several years since I read it, but parts are becoming familiar as I read. You really have done an awesome job of giving life to characters. I'll aim for 10 chapters a day, and then I will be caught up by Tuesday

Chapters 65 and 66 are up now. Dave is nearing the end of his contract and considering free agency. A big decision, considering he's turning 31 and his family is established in Chicago.

Sorry I took so long, but it'll be worth it. I think it will. I hope it will. Just stick with it. It's about baseball, and not about baseball. It's about chasing something great. It's about trying to figure out what it all means, all this work and dreaming and uncertainty.

Holy smokes! I haven't seen this in a while. Will probably read from the beginning again. I remember this being a very well written and exciting series. I've never played the game but the story was awesome. I wish there would be a possibility to play the game.
