Brett Gardner, or as one White Sox fan dubbed him - John cougar Melonhead, who has kind of quietly had himself a really nice career for the Yankees.

Just your average ballplayer.
Why I did choose this guy?
Because he has one of the greatest names in the history of baseball!

No need to be jealous of the blue and orange!
But just to show that there is no favoritism in OOTP, I will give you another player!
He's a HOFamer as well!

Barry Larkin

You didn't say it was Barry Larkin. You didn't pay attention to my earlier post at all.

I did, I just deliberately chose to ignore it...

THERE ARE TEN DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE RELEASE OF OOTP 21

Well played, Sir; well played!

Like Rey Ordonez does in this picture!

And of course #10 was Nick Brown on the Raccoons, maybe my favorite player ever, but OOTP doesn't do action shots

Over 2700 hits, .279 Avg, almost 300 HRs and a 6-time All-Star.
HOF?
Probably not.
Hall of the Very Good?
Yes!
He was well liked and I met him years ago when I was still living in Shea Stadium!
If he had just played ONE MORE season with the Mets, he would have had his title!

RIP Rusty Staub

Leon "Bip" Roberts

Fun fact: not the only (or even the first) Leon to wear No. 10 for the Reds

Leon "Bull" Durham

Trust me, he wore No. 10 - you can sorta see the zero poking up there a little bit.

Harold Baines

There's a weird sight...Harold Baines not wearing No. 3:

I know, Hal. That's just weird.

Pretty good ballplayer.
MVP, 9xAll-Star, batting title, MLB PoY and a Gold Glove!
BTW, not too bad a manager either.
Led the NYY to all those titles.
Gotta give props to the man in the dugout!

Joe Torre

Going off the board slightly today. Two No. 9s that I have actually met in person. First up - Enos Slaughter

(You probably know him better for this)

"Country" remains the only HOFer that I have met in person. He regularly attended a charity golf event in my hometown, and so I would get to see him and interact with him every year. He was such a good ol' boy, quick with humor and a friend to all he met. But even in his 60s and 70s, he was still the competitor. When he would hit a bad shot - watch out!

Now, the daily Red. But you'll never guess.

This is Vern Rapp. He was the Reds' manager in 1984. On August 4 of that year, I was a batboy for the Reds, and I met him along with all the players, and Joe Nuxhall as well. I actually got to dress alongside Joe in the locker room (he was pitching BP). Vern even autographed a baseball for me. Pretty cool, right? The manager of the hometown team giving you an autographed ball?

Less than two weeks later, Vern Rapp was fired and the Reds hired this guy to replace him. Sorry, Vern.
