Diaz gives up 5 (all on HR's) in the 9th to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory today against the Phils, who complete the sweep.

Mets go 3-8 on this road trip...but it's okay, nothing will be done.

Sell the team, Wilpon$. Sooner the better.

Travis d'Arnaud just blew our doors off. Three home runs, two walks, five RBI's. Top of the ninth, two outs, losing 4-2, he hits a three-run dinger off Chapman to put the Rays ahead.

This is the same Travis d'Arnaud, no?

Doesn't sound like him, no. Did he get injured rounding the bases for the third time? Did a pack of hyenas attack and drag him to their lair? Then it might be him after all...

For the past 10 years the Mets have had the starting pitching depth to make trades but have over valued the players and hung on till value bottomed or an injury hit. They have needed to put major league players in the field that could play together.

Ceppy is a DH which they got to play the outfield but has been injured most of his time. They acquired Cano this year . ... Alphonso and Rosario at 1B and SS were good finds .... They still have Fraizer at 3B for defense and leadership .....

What should they do ?

Get rid of Alphonso at first and play Alonso again. I would definitely start with that.

Also, Rosario sucks the leather off the baseballs. Worst shortstop in the solar system.

Now that's a poke in the eye. Marcus Stroman is coming to New York! Unfortunately, it's the wrong stadium in New York.

I don't even…

The Mets' buffoon of a GM probably decided that the Cano trade with Seattle should not go down in MLB history as the worst trade ever made, so he went out and made one that was even stupider.

I hate that ****ing ****er.

Send him our way, then! We'll give you Jacoby Ellsbury, Greg Bird, and a bunch of crappy relief pitchers in exchange. If you're feeling feisty and tough, we'll even throw in Clint Frazier.

Now, you had me at crappy relief pitchers. Who did you think about - … Cessa, Cortes, Hale? I mean, none of them are special, but you should see the animated garbage monsters we're sending out on a daily basis…

If Stroman alone won't get the deal done, we can throw in some certified quality bats that are definitely probably going to return to a field* at some point in your or my lifetime. Like Cespedes. Or Jed Lowrie, who I am assured does actually exist and is still alive although nobody's seen him since last year. Don't worry about their DL status. We routinely take out insurance for our brittle (all) players. We may have even paid the premiums.

Not enough? I can throw in a torrid slugger who will some distant day get a One Hit Wonder card in OOTP PT in J.D. Davis!

My team makes me sad.

*not necessarily a baseball field or cornfield

I am assuming that they are trading their other starters and wanted to get a MLB starter in return.

At least that's"an" explanation for the odd behavior.

Yeah, but the only other starter we have that would net a prospect like the one we gave up in Kay would be deGrom. So where's the improvement?

Another explanation would be that several people in the front office all had a stroke at once.

That, or alien infiltration.

You know, if we at least had *actual* wild card chances…

Mets are trading Jason Vargas to the Phillies. According to Jon Heyman, the return is an AA catcher.

It's even worse. The AA catcher acquired was a teammate of a Wilpon family member in college (I think).

I should really start to follow a good team that is less outrageously stupid and / or corrupt and / or sucking all life outta me.

Drifting in the detritus of Edwin "Cluster****" Diaz' umpteenth blown save of the year, I had this great idea to make him some extra dollares from TV ads.

Since seeing him pitch (walk, wild pitch, decapitated batter, wild pitch, sac fly - oops, there goes the W) brings out the absolute worst in me, maybe he could become a spokesperson for a manufacturer of anal rinse products. I mean, the connection is already there, thanks to his absolutely godawful ****ty pitching…

Maybe he can help sell enough rectal douches that it won't come at such hardship to him when his career ends at 30 after tingling through every last-place team in either league.

This team will be stopped this weekend. I have zero doubt about that. Horrendous defense, terrible catching, Pete has turned three-true-outcomes, and they will shatter into tiny little pieces once they go up against an actual team again, just like they did in May and June...
