Professional Baseball Replay League - 1956 Hall of Fame Ballot - Everyone Welcome!

Professional Baseball Replay League
1956 Hall of Fame Ballot

League Home - Hall of Fame - League History

Two rules are now being enforced by the PBRL Hall of Fame: (1) There is now a five year waiting period before any retired player can be placed on the ballot and (2) a player is only eligible for the 20 years following their retirement. Therefore, no new players will be added to the ballot for the next few years as the most recent retirees spend their time on the waiting list, and two players on the current ballot are only eligible for one more season.

10 vote maximum, anyone can vote. Go to it!

Sorry, this is going to be on hold for a day or two. I'm in the process of digging hard through our history to make sure nobody has been overlooked and to fill out the ballot a little.

I'll post again when its back up.

Alright, ballot is back up and updated to 20 names, the minimum for all future PBRL ballots.

Vote away!

Last note, if you've noticed, some guys I've added are past the 20 year rule limit. But because they haven't had a fair chance (not being on the ballot until now), I'm going to leave them on for two-three years. We need to keep this ballot filled out until we get to 1961 and can start adding the most recent retirees again.

I think I need to pimp Douglas Guthrie. Just a run down of his career numbers:

4894 Times on Base - 2nd all time behind the one and only Royal Chesterfield
.401 OBP - 21st all time
3022 Hits - 15th all time
1835 BBs - 3rd all time
1712 Runs - 12th all time
583 SBs - 27th all time (81% success rate good for 14th all time)
1021 RBI as a leadoff batter
297.9 OWS - 3rd most among 2B

3 All Star Games
1 Gold Glove
2 World Series Rings

He has freaking 3000 hits AND is 3rd all time in walks!

Give him some love!

Breslin 9 64.3%
Fontana 8 57.1%
Saint 7 50.0%

Baird 0 0.0%
Crutchfield 0 0.0%
Burlingame and Flagg finally break through!

Lassiter comes up just a little bit short in his last chance on the ballot. He'll be an interesting VC discussion.

Baird and Crutchfield will also be dropped to the VC.

I can't believe people didn't vote for Lasiter. Low BA, but wasn't he your HR king for a while?

Yep, 12 seasons plus he also pitched and won 20 games as a rookie while leading his team to a rather unexpected ring.

But yeah, it's been mildly discussed.
