Debating the value of opening a couple of 1k packs - or waiting to pop the 5k pack. With the pulls I'm seeing people post, its making me rethink my initial reaction to go for the guarenteed gold player...

You will have a better chance of a diamond or perfect pull with 5 regular packs.

You will have more excess cards to auction with 5 regular packs, and possibly enough to get a sixth pack.

You won't be guaranteed a gold card with 5 regular packs.

So... do you feel lucky, punk? Do you?

And what was the concensus?

I went ahead and opened two. First was was garbage. Second pack I pulled 3B Nolan Arenado (98)

There was no consensus. We have also adjusted the pack odds a little since the closed beta.

Basically, buying more regular packs gives you more chances at the top cards. 5x1k packs vs 1x5k pack simply gives you more chance at diamonds.

But the Gold pack guarantees you one gold, and you still have chances for more. I'm also not sure how the auction will play into this, too. There's certainly some gold cards which I would guess can be sold at auction for a nice return. But then again, if the card you want is up for auction, then you can bid up to 4k and still have 1k to spare to buy a pack to give you the chances at other cards.

It's really going to be interesting to see which strategy will win out.

The text with the odds is pulled from the server, it's up-to-date

Loving this game mode. A couple of comments:

1. I really like the universe concept. Sure pay to play players will move up the ranks sooner, but that is a good thing for free to players. You will be in area with like players.

2. How are coins earned? i thought from achievements from challenge mode, but have only seen coins earned from within perfect team?

3. Opening packs is just downright fun. It's a thrill to have a chance to pull a hall of famer.

I just remembered my old account password! So you can see I'm not the newbie lol. Is there a way to merge accounts lol? I created a new one because my old one was tied to an old ISP account.

Oooooohhhh..... I had missed this, and was feeling like the packs had gone down in quality at some point. I assumed it was just statistical lumpiness in a small sample size, but it's good to know there was an actual change

I would argue that it's inefficient to buy packs at all. I've improved my team significantly more by spending 300 PP on card auctions than I did by spending 2,000 PP on card packs. Card packs tend to be full of trash and it's a roll of the dice if any of the good cards address one of your team weaknesses.

You can improve your team to a point, but eventually your all-bronze team will not stand up to an all-diamond/gold team. You can't even get 1 silver card for 300PP, much less gold or diamond.
