Pythag. record....

My team seems to be coming up short if I look at the python record. I am roughly 7 or so under it each season over the last few.

Any recommendations on where to search for the reason?

Thanks in advance.

more contact means more consistent hitting. Better defense and control and movement will help reduce erratic pitching. But generally it is typically luck as far as when your runs are scored, if you win some games 18-1 and then lose 3 in a row 4-3, you end up where you should have won at least 3 of those but in fact went 1-3.

This is why I ignore Pythag.

Thanks guys for helping. I see that looking at it probably isn't really that helpful of a gage of how your team is actually performing.

Pythagorean record is a crude instrument. Meaning that it's an accurate reflection of really bad teams and really good teams when you are talking about substantial run differentials over long stretches of time. But, for .500-ish teams, it can be quite noisy and not necessarily predictive for the reasons already stated above.
