I shall no longer address you from this point on. Got better things to do with my time, mate. Anyway...back to the task at hand. I don't think he's been mentioned, and if he has I probably overlooked it, but Jody Reed (77) 1988 Rookie Sensation is a very solid cheap pickup. Good defensive ratings, reasonable hitter. 7-day average is 500, so he comes fairly cheap too. Well worth training at other positions. Trains to a 70 at 1st, 91 at 2nd, and 83 at 3rd to go along with his 76 at shortstop. Last edited by Magus978; 05-24-2019 at 02:58 PM. |

No reason why he can't do that at higher levels too. Sure, he's no bronze Gwynn, but for what it's worth, he doesn't have to be. Anything above .275 in Silver and higher would be a nice bonus. Definitely a good enough card to carry with you for awhile.

LaValliere is a stud, but he's not done the job for me this season splitting time with Bob Boone. However, I'm gonna give him a chance as a starter for the rest of today and tomorrow, hoping that the better defense will push the needle forward a little bit. It's not like we actually hit home runs anyway.

Posey is my starter and for some reason he keeps hitting above .270, inc .306 so far this week, with a CERA of 3.89 and 40% CS.

My vague and anecdotal impression of LaValliere is that he usually starts out well for my teams but then tails off the last couple of months, and ends up having a typical stat line for catchers (which is to say... pretty ugly). I still use him because of the defense and arm but I'm at the point where any offense he generates is seen as a bonus.

My free packs team pulled LaValliere in its starter packs and I have kept him ever since. Career 40.9% CS rate is awesome… but then he's a singles slapper barely amounting to a .700 OPS and that is in the lower leagues, mostly Silver for me.

My LaValliere has a career .280 average and has never hit below .267 for me in five seasons. Last year he even surprised me with 31 doubles in 414 ABs. Just don´t expect him to drive in any runs. Of course he saves a lot of runs by throwing guys out, so that works for me.

Are you guys talking about bronze Musial? The gold one has been great for me. Max gap park factors definitely help.

Mine is the 92 overall and he's been really bad. In 7 seasons he has one all star appearance and 2 player of the weeks. I've never been above silver level.

For reference, my Musial's performance:
This is with max AVG and GAP park factors. 6/7 solid seasons in perfect, just one dud. 4 all-star appearances Last edited by chazzycat; 07-11-2019 at 08:09 PM. |
