Beef with import historical player to fictional league

Understand that it has to be pretty hard to import historical players and there is a lot of double edged swords, BUT I have some beefs. Recently I wanted a TOTAL utility player to play around with so I imported Craig Biggio into my league (year 2072). So now to the part I have beef with.

It is EXTREMELY frustrating when I have to import three different Craig Biggio's to accurately portray his catching ability, infield ability, and outfield ability then go into the editor and edit the version I want. Obviously if I want an accurate Craig Biggio I could never import his 1990 version and stick him at 2B for a spring and have a passable 2B for opening day.

Also, what's up with importing players like Greg Maddux
'94 and his movement is 248 actual, but potential is 225. But then when I import his 1986 his movement potential is 225? Understand you don't necessarily want a Greg Maddux with 248 movement for a decade, but still seems a bit broken...
