league started simming slow
all of a sudden my online league sim has started taking a long time to run just 7 days. the simming of games seems to go by fine, moving to the next day causes a "not responding" and screen whiting out. if i leave it alone it eventually finishes. just last week it only took a couple minutes at most to run a sim, last night it took a half an hour.
it seems to be a problem with all my saved games, I have rebuilt my PC and new games sim fine, but the saved games still have the problem. my solo leagues are no big deal, they have been mainly testing but the online league is a different issue, I have plenty of backups I could revert to till I find a good one, but nobody likes to resim games. so has anybody experienced this and have any tips how I can solve it without resorting to drastic measures the same "hang" also happens when the game creates emails, but once creation finally finishes they send fine. but HTML reports have no issues during creation.

To be clear.
You sim a week at a time. The game sims the "day" at a seemingly quick rate but when it rolls to the next day is when there are problems? Did this start immediately after you rebuilt? Was there a period of normal sim speeds and then this slow down? Offseason, in season or ST? Have your settings for what files you include in uploads changed?

Have you noticed a difference in file size in your uploads?

last file size was 19m and that's pretty normal, we bounce between that and 30ish depending on updated image files.

Hmmm
Do you have any leagues in the universe that have been turned off or "deleted"? Any changes to saving box scores, replays or game logs. If these are turned on for all leagues (read minors) it can add time. I am trying to think of anything that is settings related in the hopes that it is something simple.

I don't generally change anything during the season.... i'll check again
we run with high detail stats and full reports, but we always have and it's never been an issue before. if it actually crashed we would have something to go by.

Just some quick thoughts:
1. Is your AV running or doing a scheduled scan when you are simming, if so try disabling it while you sim. ....... 2. Hows your disk space? That could be an issue since when it rolls from DTD is when it is slow and that might be the game writing that days results/stats to disk. Try cleaning up your disk (remove temp & dup files, etc) and doing a defrag. .... 3. Did you recently install any new programs or apply any OS patches? Maybe one of them is running in the background or starting a service not running before? ... 4. Check task manager (or its equivalent for Mac & Linux if you using them) when its slowing down, go to the processes tab and sort by Cpu/memory usage and see if anything jumps out at you. ..... "Something" changed, its a needle in the haystack hunt to find what it is.

i think it's choking when it writes the text files. if i blow out all the text files it sims ok for a day or 2 then bogs down, if i set it to sim forward a month, every now and again (test file is now in the off-season) it will sim a day fine, but hen go slow again the next.

through much trial and error I have narrowed it down to something in the image-set. a bad logo or uniform file, now it's just a matter of finding the right one

Hey jazzrack,
Did you ever end up figuring out what it was? I just ran into the same problem at the end of a season, right after ending the playoffs. Following your cues, I deleted all text folders from a test league to avoid any possible bad image file corruption, but no dice.
