Play 'em...or trade 'em?
Greetings. Looking for some opinions....and your experience.
Are the contact-gap-power ratings just sometimes wrong? I have a fictional league second baseman with 11 contact, 12 gap and 13 power. (I had pretty big expectations....like maybe he could play for the Chicago Mighty Cocks or something) After 32 games he is hitting .180. If I just keep playing him (and he's killing me) will the ratings sooner or later prove correct, or do you just have some guys that never quite make it? |

There is not enough data to make a good diagnosis.
This could be a sample size issue. He may have be suffering bad luck. He could easily be a .270 hitter with moderate power, but not catching the breaks. Only way to really tell is to give him another 400 AB. If you are playing with scouting on, then, yes, those ratings could be really different. He could be much worse and the scout may have misread him. |
