Nasty Knuckleballer

This guy just went first overall to the Astros in my first amateur draft with the Rockies. Obviously I was praying he fell to 8th, but clearly there was no shot.

He's like a combination of Niekro and Nolan Ryan. I mean 224 strikeouts in 137.2 inning, and in college not even high school. He's going to be a beast...

Also, I apologize for the little Windows sidebar on the picture, I didn't realize that was up when I took the picture haha

You can only hope he's as good as this guy.

Edit:

I forgot, 11 Cy Young Awards!

Sweet Jesus. I thought Strasburg was doing well when he reined in 8 during my OOTP 13 game.

What did St. Louis trade away to Tampa Bay to obtain a pitcher in his prime averaging nearly 20 wins a season?

Interestingly he was never traded. He walked as a FA every time.

His stretch with St. Louis was incredible at 20 wins a season. I would have loved to been his agent.

Hmm, there's a thought. We can play OOTP as commissioner or gm / manager. Should there be a role as agent?

Cool!

I've yet to come across a knuckleball pitcher in any of my dynasties.

When I do find guys who can throw it, the rating is usually so poor that it shouldn't even be listed as one of their pitches. Has anyone else seen guys with high rated specialty pitches?

I've not had one either.

I was going to look through the data dump options to see if there was a way to include their pitches, with the thought of checking to see if I might have missed one in the mass of data generated by multi-league, multi-year games.

I've had great slider specialists and SInker specialists (SP only), but fastball, changeup and curves usually are 15-17 on a 1-20 scale, never seen a 20 (outside of a reliever)

I know, right? That's why I had to trade for him. He's been inconsistent, and back and forth to the farm this season, but he's slowly coming around. Plus, he hit a grand slam two starts after I posted him here.
