Amazingly, the Tea Totallers avoided regulation. The Gorillas made it to the WS on their first week in Diamond, but fell short of the title. They'll move up to Perfect...where it'll feel like a punishment.

Bakery had a very poor September, and just about got regulated. We'll be reselling that 95 Maddox if he doesn't get it in gear this week.

The Magpies had an easy division series after the 107 win Vlad News Bears were upset in the Wild Card game by an 87 win team. We outscored the surprise opponent, coincidentally also named Surprise, 27-7 in 3 games. Next up was the 6-time perfect league champion Fog Town Stars whom we had edged out by 2 games for home field advantage. We won the first two at home, then split the next 4 to win the pennant. That set the stage for a dramatic finals with the Chicago Machine, looking for their first perfect league championship.

They won the first game 4-3 after Mariano Rivera blew the save. This card seems to have a bad habit of blowing post season games.

Game 2 was a 12-3 romp to even the series which set the stage for outfoxing myself. You see, Pedro Martinez was on a 19-game winning streak and was scheduled for game 4. But there he would face Special Edition Ed Walsh. So, I moved him up to game 3 where he would face the less dangerous Red Faber. Except, I forgot about the day off between game 2 and 3 which made Ed Walsh available for game 3.

So, it was Pedro vs. Walsh anyway and both starters gave up 4 early runs before yielding to the bullpen. Both bullpens were superb and it wasn't until the 16th inning that the Magpies got a home run from Honus Wagner to pick up the win. Poor Pedro would need game 7 to try again for #20....

Now, it seems every time I have a team's bullpen totally red-lined, their next starter, no matter who it is, pitches a complete game gem. And so it was one more time, Red Faber pitches a 3-hit shutout and wins 1-0.

That's four games lost this post-season, all by 1 run. However, Cy Young and Walter Johnson are up to the task of finishing off the Machine, leaving poor Pedro stuck on 19.

In the other conference, the Sluggers are up 2-1 on the Plattsburgh Penguins, but are having a surprisingly hard time with them. Their 1st victory was in the bottom of the 10th and after losing, they won the next game in 16 innings. Sounds familiar...
Dare I ask how everything turned out, old timer?

For the second straight week the Doubledays blew it in the World Series. Last week they blew a 3-1 series lead. This week they forgot their bats as they were upset by the Michigan Stags.

Congrats to Michigan on their title.
