A Ruth in Every Pot

The "Horadric Cube" mission to combine 2 Ruths and get a perfect Ruth has created a market glut for perfect Ruths. If you had 200K points... why wouldn't you want to buy a 99 Ruth and a 94 Ruth, make a perfect Ruth, sell the perfect Ruth to recoup your investment, and end up with a locked 99 Ruth in your lineup for nothing?

The only downside is that the perfect Ruth that you are trying to sell will soon be worth less than the 99 Ruth. Was it really a good idea to turn the market upside for these two cards? It's not like the perfect Ruth is that much better than the 99 Ruth, but before this recipe you had to buy one or the other. Now you can get a Ruth for free if you have the seed money. I think this mission should have been harder.

Note: I realize that most players don't have the 200K admission fee, but many do as evidenced by the growing number of perfect Ruths on the AH.

there aren't enough 94 and 99 ruths in existence to keep this viable for very long. I don't really like it since all these perfect Ruths are getting created into the economy out of thin air. would prefer missions to remain just special edition cards

As you mentioned pretty soon perfect ruth will be downright cheap since everyone who did this is stuck with the 99 and it isn't much worse. I'm just going to wait and then buy the 100 after the price continues to drop

I was a whisker away to buying the 99 Ruth and cashing it in with my other Ruth for the perfect when I decided the extremely high Vet bills incurred over the last month should probably preclude me from buy even more PP so alas I did not pull the trigger.

If I had a 94 Ruth, I would be pricing it like an iron Unsung Hero card (in other words, many times what it is worth). Edit: There's only one on the market right now at 100K, so maybe this trend has started and the gravy train is over.

That's a really good point about an existing card being created instead of a SE card that can't be pulled in packs. I think this is the only case of that in the game.

Last weekend I was looking for a LF and was so close to pulling the trigger on a 94 for 64K but I got greedy and wanted it to drop below 60 first. I think combining ruth was even one of the missions they showed in the test mission screenshot. oh well

Pulled a perfect historical card last night...guess which one? Was hoping I could sell it and somehow turn that into the other two Ruths and thus recouping the original perfect. Guess not...

Yeah, I think that ship sailed this morning. Currently, you can buy the perfect Ruth for 175K and the components cost 100K more (if you can find them).

Someone briefly listed a 100 Ruth with a 120K bid and no BIN, but it was quickly cancelled (thankfully before I convinced myself to bid).

One just sold for 140k and there are several more on the market that will likely have to go even lower to sell now

That was mine. Earned it from collection and dumped it before it tanks to 100k. Not a smart idea to have pre-existing cards in a collection piece.

The clever collection theme destroyed the value of people who bought beforehand. And they said the sample ideas wouldn't be used for real and they lied about that, too.

This is something to remember though. We might have seen the peak of 100 Ruth supply since the price of the 94 and 99 Ruths have gone up quickly. It no longer makes sense to complete the mission for profit, and the price of the 100 Ruth may start to climb back up again.

I still think the mission to create an existing card was a mistake, because it does screw the people that paid over $100 for a perfect Ruth before the mission was released.

As long as there are enough buyers for 100 Ruth it'll eventually level out. I don't think there will be but we shall see. The fun of this bad situation, I guess.

Well, it's the first time we have launched missions, so we knew there would probably be some things that are not ideal. We keep track of all of these for PT21 though, and will make decisions based on your feedback. So, thanks for bringing this up!

I'm glad I made you laugh. All will be forgiven if tournaments come out on time, or by WS, if not All-star game. Not much to forgive, really, but I don't need help squandering points!

You know what they say. When everyone else is selling... buy.

Can't think of an easier way to lose your house than to corner the market on perfect Babes.

You can tell the bank as they're foreclosing; well, see, there was this collection mission in Perfect Team...

Well, I'm a cheap old *******. I won't spend the raw $$$ it would take for me to get a Ruth, perfect or otherwise. I have enjoyed completing some of the lower level missions, though. Just love watching the pages scroll by and seeing some 43 Iron Card going for 1,500 because some moron discovered it's in a collection...like anyone with half a brain would spend 1,500 on a card to get a free Standard Pack.

Every bid I place is predicated on the principle of, "Is this going to cost me more than I could just buy it for?" I'm Dutch by ancestry...it's in my blood!

I like the idea of 3-10 historical cards for a SE or upgrade in the same category.

And as far as LIVES, maybe any 20-25 from a team for some kind of reward besides the entire team collection...so many team changes in that dept. these days, you can probably go to collect all the LIVES from a team & in the process there's a move in the MLB where the player changes teams quite often.
