"Super Two" Question

I am new to the OOTP game/franchise and so far am loving it. It takes all the best things about franchise/dynasty modes from other games without the hassle of playing every single game or simulating every single game.

That being said, does OOTP incorporate the "Super Two" service time and arbitration process into the game? Reason I ask is because I am running an Astros game mode as Manager & GM and I don't want to bring up Yordan Alvarez, Forrest Whitley, and/or Kyle Tucker if it will get them to arbitration a year earlier... just as the real life Astros are doing right now.

If OOTP doesn't, then I'm bringing them up! If it does, they'll stay in AAA & AA a bit longer.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Yes, it's in the game While we can't always calculate things exactly the same way, it's certainly very close to the real rules. You'll have to wait until sometime in June and hope you picked right. You'll note that when you call up someone who might fall under this, in the player salaries page, they will be listed as "possibly arbitration eligible" at some point down the road.

Is there some way to know at the end of the season what the cutoff was?

Hmm, I don't think so right now, but shouldn't be too hard to add it quickly to the arbitration page.

For reference, here's what MLB website describes as "Super Two:"

Definition
Players typically must accrue three years of Major League service time -- with one year of service time equaling 172 days on the 25-man roster or the Major League injured list -- to become eligible for salary arbitration. Super Two is a designation that allows a select group of players to become eligible for arbitration before reaching three years of service time.

To qualify for the Super Two designation, players must rank in the top 22 percent, in terms of service time, among those who have amassed between two and three years in the Majors. Typically, this applies to players who have two years and at least 130 days of service time, although the specific cutoff date varies on a year-to-year basis.

Example
Dexter Fowler completed the 2011 season with two years and 168 days of Major League service time, which made him one of the leaders in service time among players who had between two and three years in the Majors. Thus, the outfielder qualified as a Super Two player and was eligible for arbitration. Fowler went through arbitration four times before reaching free agency following the 2015 season.

Let us know how you're doing with the Astros. I love reading that kind of stuff, especially from new OOTP players.

There is no other Steam game I play more than OOTP, it's just an awesome game that has grown into one of the best simulation games ever over the past 20 years.

I generally set my Super Two preferences to the top 10% when possible, and if I remember in time, but others may set the percentages for that sort of thing differently, of course. I typically think that 22% is probably too high for most leagues, if I remember correctly enough for them at times. CD out.

Great idea and thanks! I found the area in the forums where dynasties are supposed to be posted...so I assume that's where I'll post updates.

Here's the direct link to that part of the forums with my Astros dynasty thread:

But the AI puts the best 25 on the roster, right? Irrelevant of Super Two? So isn't that date going to be sometime in late April/early May? Or does the AI "care" about Super Two status?
